I'm going to try and sum everything up and give you a final answer.

Your 290's are producing too much heat along with your CPU overclock.  Bottom line: you need more radiator space.  If you cannot do that, then lower your clock speeds to get lower and more comfortable temps.

The rad's are quite thick so a push/pull setup would help a little but the most drastic temperature decrease would come from more rad space and lower clock speeds.

Finally got the HDD cage! It is VERY tight in the case so I didnt end up having to use anything to secure it down.  works create in my opinion. Looks much better then the HDD and SSD just sitting on the bottom of the case.

The SSD would not fit in the tray that came with the cage because there wasnt enough clearance for the SATA power. So I put it on its tray that came with the SSD, Im going to paint it black soon.  But for now, itll do.

Sorry the pictures aren't good quality, I didn't have my camera so I had to use my phone

As the weekend came I modded my case!
The radiator is installed and it looks great to me!

I used the old hard drive cages I removed to make a bracket to hold the fans and radiator. It worked flawlessly.

Just waiting for my new, smaller hard drive cage to come in the mail, should be here Monday.

Hello! ALL the watercooling components arrived! But I am waiting until Christmas to see them and install them.  I got the radiator today though and I am modding my case to fully accomadate it because that would be a pain in the neck to do on Christmas. But here are the pictures of the rad, I will be modding my case this weekend.

My case arrived, and this thing is huge!

First things first, unscrew everything, i have to say i expected better buildquality. it's a bit wobbly with no hardware in it.

The first decision was the motherboard. I didn't want to buy a ROG board because than you kinda have to go red/black with your build. I saw the MSI XpowerII it's completely black! Now I can go any color I like...maybe even red :D The heatsinks are ugly, but XSPC makes a waterblock for it.

    90° USB 3.0 nice!

The XSPC waterbock for the board

Board with no heatsinks on it looks silly!

But with waterblocks really good :D

I think for socket 2011 there is only one good choice when it comes to the CPU: 3930K

I want do go CF/SLI and sleeve the PSU, so i need a fully modular PSU around 800W. I went with a Seasonic Platinum 860W, because it's semi passiv and i'm a Seasonic fanboy!

Even a XL-ATX board gets lost in the 900D

    So long!

So today I did a mod to remove the front HDD cages and the drive bays in preparation for a 360mm rad
Here are some pics of everything.

Took out everything by just getting rid of some rivets, then I had to paint over the silver:

So this is everything back in the case and the jumble of wires is the HDD and SSD, once I go buy some heavy duty velcro I am going to move those behind the motherboard.

    Hello to the Build Logs,

About a year ago I had an Idea for an Orange and Black Build.  I started thinking about different shades of Orange, what parts to have color and what would remain black.
I had an old Antec DF-85 that was Empty and collecting dust, and so it began.  I few ideas and many hours later "Electric Orange" was Born.

Lets start at the Beginning.  There is Definitely some potential here with this case. At this stage I really don't know how much yet.

I don't do Sketch work or Create Renders for Mods.  Everything with this Project is off the Hip and very spontaneous..

Windows Paint is about as High tech as it gets for me.

Well, That looks good, lets rip it apart..

Now that its in Pieces,  I needed a Color.  Searches for Electric Orange Paint really didn't lead to the right shade for me.  So, I decided on a shade of Orange called Omaha.
This Shot of a 69 Mopar in Omaha Orange Inspired me.

A Quick trip to my friends at Napa and Presto..  Omaha Custom Mixed to Aerosol..

So I Started spraying panels and fans and You name it.  But in the End, I just wasn't happy with the Final Product.  Lots of Orange Peel..

There has to Be a Better Way to paint this.. At this point in the Project is it too late to start over?  Nope.

Quick Trip to the Acid Tanks at my Powdercoater and Wah-La.. All Better..  Oh,, Why not Build a Paint Booth in my Basement and get a Full Blown HVLP set up and teach myself how to paint Professionally while I'm at it..
    So I Did.

Now that I set myself up with Pro Hardware.  Lets Paint.

Much Smoother and controlled Surface Now.  Rattle cans are a thing of the Past for me.
Here is an Example of the Surface top Coat I can Produce now with my HVLP Gun.  Color is "Burma Black Pearl" and "Omaha Orange"  Front Panel Shot here.

Enough about the Painting..  Lets talk some Hardware.

    Welcome!
I thought I would share a project I have been working on for a few years! Some of you may have seen it on other forums or somewhere else but now I have started the work log here as well. It is a fully custom chassis built and designed by me.

I have been a long time watcher of LinusTechTips on youtube but I never realized that this forum was here. Because of that I never got around to make a work log here for the whole progress only the last month or so of the build. Anyway I hope you will enjoy it! (Updated the pictures to the final ones and added videos!)

    History behind the Project:
About 5 years ago I decided that I was going to water cool my computer. Back then I had a Antec P180, not exactly the perfect chassis for water cooling your components. I looked at a lot of different chassis but I was never really happy with any of them. So I started sketching on my own design. First they were really awful, but as time progressed I got better and better at drawing. Early drawings was in MS-paint. I then moved on to Google Sketchup and finally Autodesk Inventor. I have probably gone through about 30 different designs until I finally decided on this one. This was my first custom designed chassis and also my first ever water cooled computer! The basic goal was to design a very quiet high-performing system with a minimalistic and clean design.

Edit: Compiled all the Pictures and Videos in the first post.

    Final Result:

The "complete" work log is almost 500 pictures. Below is a compact 100 pics of the process and the final results. If you want ALL 500 pics check out this album: http://imgur.com/a/dTRqx

Hey guys! So today I modded my case to have a side window.  I didn't take many pictures sorry.  If you're interested I can explain the process.

Here I cut the first side and it was pretty terrible, filed it a little and it came out to be nice and straight.

The side panel didn't fit on the case because the acrylic was in the way so I got a dremel and cut down the parts that were keeping it from fitting in the case.

And the final product! Tell me what you think

    Future Upgrades:
    GTX 770
    Sapphire HD 7970✓
    Full Water Cooling
    Case Window Mod✓

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Current Build:

Added the 7970 today, here's a pic of the current rig.

    7970:

    Before the 7970:

Some minor cables that need sleeved:

Hid the tags on the CPU cooler upon request.

Today I moved the HDD and SSD to the back of the case.
My reasoning behind this was to help airflow from the front of the case because my HDD and SSD don't get hot.
Also, I wanted to see if they could fit back there because they would need to be there if I want to install a 240mm rad in the front of the case, which I want to do.
I moved the HDD and SSD back to the cages, I didn't want to take then chance of them being damaged.

If I remove the hard drive cage I could easily out a 240mm radiator in the front of the case. :)

Finally I removed the NZXT Sentry fan controller and my disk reader because they made it so I had ugly wires stretching throughout my computer.

    ** I should be ordering the 770 in a few weeks! **
I ended up getting a Sapphire HD 7970

I know the red and black doesn't fit my color scheme but I will be watercooling it all so it will all fit in :)
