What does a pump top do?

Hey guys so I was just wondering what exactly a pump top does? I have been thinking about watercooling for a while and i just realized I have no clue what a pump top does.

Some of them (Apparently) have better flow, and they let you change the barb/fitting sizes.

This, it also sometimes gives you more/better locations for fittings, as well as looking better.

Yeah, pretty much what others have said. Some provide better flow and give better variety of options for fittings. They also make your pump look better! Stock top on D5 looks like poop!

Also, some tops have the reservoir built onto them, so you can have an easy option for mounting the reservoir.

Barbs or compression fittings? If barbs, do you mean zip ties?

for barbs, and yes like zip ties but the metal ones that you tighten with a screw driver

thank you! i couldnt remember "hose clamp" i tried hose tie, tube tie, tube clip. i dont know why it was escaping me
