  1. Anyone purchased SSD's from AmazonUK? safe purchase or just going to get a brick in a box?

    1. Spotty

Check who the seller is. If it is actually AmazonUK that is the seller than you should be safe. If it's some random store that is selling on Amazon then buyer beware.
Remember if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

  2. Can Linus get over 10,000 instances of 4k Nyan cat running using what ever hardware he wants, and stream it for 24hours straight.

Let's start a club LTT Mensa

  4. I am literally just watching the Rambo movies for the first time.

  5. The LTT toilet needs a sensor and when a suitable loud fart occurs it sounds a klaxon of a weapons grade deployment, thing is they don't say anything till Linus uses it.

This made me laugh more than it should have

  6. Anyone else want to see Anthony ride a unicycle around the studios.

  7. In LTT's recent review of the dual screen laptop.  Was it just me who saw a Wish built PC? is this an upcoming video?

  9. Thinking of buying an Adata 960GB SSD, anyone any experience with the brand? only used Samsung/Seagate drives personally.

  11. Anyone know of a cheap reliable place to get older i3/i5 desktops for workstation/email purposes in the UK?

      dumpster dive other businesses.

    3. DrMacintosh

Yep, offices clearing out old equipment is the best way to source these old parts. Will usually have to provide your own HDDs though.

    4. Kierax

Dont mind shoving a cheap SSD in for the person, the whole premise is a cheap as possible i3,i5,i7 whatever, as long as it can run Windows 10 and a music editor that takes 4GB ram.

I personally would build something basic and barebones but I am getting the feeling the budget is the type where ex business computer workstations may be the only option.

Aside from Ebay ( zero warranty and comeback with some people ) is their any other major website in the UK used bar Amazon?

  12. Where can I get one of those orange screwdrivers Linus uses?

lol $70 for that over priced snap on? no thanks ill stick with my Kobalt

    3. pizapower

You can get a brand new B450 motherboard for that.

    4. Tsuki

quality tools come at a premium.  snap on is expensive, but they are meant more for proffesionals.  if you dont use it every single day, go with another brand.

if i only need a screwdriver once a month or less, shit ill go to harbor freight and spend $3.

same thing in every single industry.  consumer products are cheaper than proffesional ones. these arent really consumer products.

i stream on twitch every so often. but not often enough to spend $300 on premium audio equipment.

i ride a bicycle, but not enough to justify a $1500 bike.

      same thing

  13. What does

"did you just POE your computer" mean?

I know he killed a computer but what does the term mean?

You're close. It's Power over Ethernet not Power on Ethernet. Same difference but I'm here before you start throwing that around and annoying the networking aficionados.

There's a number of different standards for PoE with different voltages based on standard but the common ones are 12V, 24V, & 48V DC.

So if you are using a PoE injector that lacks the ability to distinguish a PoE compatible device from a non-PoE compliant device you will fry the hell out of the network controller and possibly anything else in adjacent circuits.

      Ah shit, my bad.

  14. H170 bugs when going from DC/PWM in the bios, using QFanControl auto setting and then going back and assigning manual seems to fix it.

  15. Would the LTT community buy a motherboard from Amazon, and what would you look for?

    1. CircleTech

      first part: yes.

Second part: Can't be answered so easily. what s your base platform? What will you be using this machine for? Many questions here.

    2. Kierax

GF needs a new mobo for the i5 6600 I have here, (shes using Ivybridge right now) and likes my h170, i could upgrade but pondering just getting same as I have from Amazon as I have Ryzen plans in 2020.

Usage will be ESO,76, and perhaps some other co-op/online games. All at 1080p 60hz 21:9 2560x1080.

Rest of systen when built will be.

      i5 6600

      h170 mobo (amazon hopefully)

      250GB Evo SSD

      R9 390

    3. DrMacintosh

I did, what I looked for in a motherboard was USB-C, 2 16x slots and and least 1 1x slot.

  16. Is Amazon decent enough a choice for another h170 motherboard? got a 6600 lying around and my gf wants an upgrade so she can join me on 76.

  17. Which member of the LTT studio staff can yodel the best?

  18. Why isn't the LTT toilet RGB?

  19. How long can a modern CPU last cooled only by a double cheeseburger?

    1. Mira Yurizaki

  20. I've a 6700k, what would be the newest Z board I could use? sorry if this is a stupid question.

    1. Kierax

The reason is my GF needs a new rig, I have a 6600k lying around, and she wants my H170 as it lights up, and I fancy a Z chipset board.

      Z170 or Z270 for 6th gen Intel.
I doubt you can find one reasonably priced though. Old motherboards, especially enthusiast overclocking ones, tend to be overpriced.

  21. I think we need to train penguins to fly micro-gliders.

  22. How long would an i7 (any) last cooled only by a cheeseburger that was placed on Linus's head?

  23. I see there is chaos, I personally blame a lack of @Ryan_Vickers selfies with a pancake on his head.

  24. Do Noctua fans rotate with a 1/2 pound cheeseburger placed on them?

With a sufficient amount of torque, yes. :3

    3. Kierax

@LinusTech I think the way fans are reviewed could get more interesting, I thus present the cheeseburger test!!!!

How many cheeseburgers can this fan rotate while being silent!

7/10 shitpost. As dumb as this idea is, this has me thinking about it
