  1. they are, and you can't use them again when you upgrade next. but going with universals and heatsinks and a fan or 2 doesn't look as good, and since you wanted a window...... personally id rather go universal with a case with fans mounts on the door.
  2. if you use universal you need to still need to cool the cards VRMs and ram, you can do it effectively with stick on heatsinks and a fan blowing on your cards. what case to use? i don't really care what you choose, theres a case thread for a reason.
  3. the problems you have with the parts list is you are missing GPU blocks and fittings for them, and your getting a cpu block it seems your not gonna use. a 280mm rad will cool 2 290Xs better then their air coolers, I'd guess they would top out at 60-65C. plus the XPC kit selected doesn't come with fans.
  4. the 2 pieces of a compression fittings are not meant to touch when it has tubing in it, if you try you'll most likely cut your tubing and have a leak. hand tighten only
  5. if you don't use the proper in and out as in and outs, you'll get quite noticeably worse temps. this is true for all blocks that have jet plates
  6. all this "DX12 WON"T WORK ON WIN 7!! OMGWTF!!!" is nothing but internet speculation at its worst. it might or might not, no where absolutely no where have I seen anything about DX12's OS requirements. What I have seen, DX12 dev tools are already available. DX12 beta drivers expected this year, for devs I's im guessing. Nvidia asked MS 4 years ago for a low level DX api, surprise surprise MS is slow to come up with anything that wont directly make them money. (Buy a new AMD card!!! it's got Mantle!!). Native DX12 games will be out late 2015, (I'm guessing they are talking about xbone games)
  7. so, only AMD's GCN and onward cards will support DX12, but Nvidia's Fermi and onward will support DX12.. so most AMD chips from July 2011 onward. and most Nvidia chips from April 2010 onward.
  8. lol cheap 4770Ks? when 4770K first came out 3770Ks were 20$ less. the only interesting thing about this processor release is the new storage I/O.
  9. the hotter your coolant the softer the plastic in your loop gets, this isn't a problem for water blocks. But it does accelerate pump wear and it does make tubing softer, can especially a problem with thin walled tubing. as temps go up plasticiser leach and discolouration happen faster. the temp probe you got with your controller is a thermo-couple, they are a thermo-electric device that generates a small electric charge when exposed to heat, getting it wet won't be dangerous but could ruin its readings and maybe ruin the device. letting your coolant get hot is silly, there's no good reason to do this.
  10. DX12 support for GTX 400+ cards, this explains why NVidia announced that they are stopping support of GTX 300 and earlier cards.
  11. aren't they also coming out with 15 core hyper threaded Xeons this refresh for the low low price of 3500$? I forget where I was reading about what intell was doing with Xeon line.
  12. its an interesting technology, implemented into homes for seniors and into security systems it could be a useful addition to other technologies that preform similar tasks.
  13. lol, "new improved TIM", not soldered, so deliding will still improve temps... I almost wish they would dispense with the IHS all together. or let me buy chips that don't come with one.
  14. its not all about luxury dealers, they aren't that stupid, they know tesla wants to produce mid-range cost electric vehicles. its not like tesla hid this fact the plan was always, 100k$ car, 60k$ car, then 30k$ car, world changed. Musk didn't found tesla to make money he did it for the same reason he started Space-X, to make the future he wanted to see, happen. they just want their cut of your money for allowing you the privilege of buying from them.
  15. its news, but as surprising as the news "earth expected continue rotating tomorrow"
  16. screw dealers, drug or auto. All they do is add an extra layer of cost for the convenience of a show room, or test drives. If you don't want either of those a dealership is just an extra huge cost for no value. Why do you think a vehicle loses so much value as soon as its driven off the lot? car dealers are realizing they are pretty much just like any other brick an mortar store. aka not as good or convenient as an online store if you know exactly what you want.
  17. i'm not too worried about a system originally designed to survive a nuclear war being irrevocably damaged. people would panic, but when do people not panic and make things worse?
  18. I cant imagine they could break the games that much revamping the textures, models, effects and cinematics, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Shipbreakers by Blackbird Interactive looks to more promising for a new dose Homeworld action.
  19. also remember most of the AIOs on the market are just asetek rebrands, and asetek only does commercial sales. the factory that makes g10s makes plenty, its just demand is higher then supply atm, why would they setup a huge production line for a product their customer will use and reuse for the next decade, or until NVidia or AMD change their mounting standard.
  20. current leak??? a wiring harness isn't a semiconductor or capacitor, unless the insulation is damaged and its shorting out, current leakage isn't a concern. its wont make any difference unless the device you plug the splitter into cannot handle the combined amperage of the fans plugged into the harness.
  21. they require different types for bridge connectors the main functional difference is how fittings attach to them.
  22. a glass res like the photon? drill, no question for me.
  23. no reason to get a titan unless you need the content creator features it has. for gaming a 780ti is really the only non-ridiculous choice between the two. plus given NVidia's release schedule for the last 5 years or so, I wouldn't expect a new high end chip before Q4/Q1 2014/15. unless of course AMD releases a new chip, then expect a NVidia chip within a month of AMD's release, cause you know, NVidia is most likely sitting on a new chip atm.
