I recently downloaded a worskhop manual for an engine for my dad. I said ill hang onto a copy in case anything every happens to the USB I gave it to him on. He told me to delete it because he didnt want it taking up space on my PC. Its a PDF and I have a 20tb NAS.
 
He tries hard though nad he's getting better with computers, but he also double clicks everything...

With Sandy Bridge (1155) being an exception with a soldered on. I think 1156 was soldered as well.

Its enterprise hardware with VM in mind to reduce a companies physical and power footprint. 
To be honest I cant think of a company that would have this apart from a VERY large media company doing lots of very large CPU bound renders. What throws me is the quaddro. This is not a workstation, its a server full stop. Most likely (if they're smart) paired with another identical unit for redundancy load balancing. Storage would be through a SAN.
 
Its powerful yes but only for CPU tasks. The quaddro is ok but you can get a K6000 now which is mental. Neither this 8 CPU'S or the K5000 quaddro will be good in games though, my 3770k with a 780ti would destroy it in a game benchmark...

Asus had the xpander but it would only work with 2 motherboards, and its too large for my needs.

Nothing wrong with that! I really like the Koolance 380! I think its one of the best looking waterblocks.
 
This was the R4 not long ago, id argue that yours looks  better than this.

You could absolutely make one if you are creative enough.
 
Metal would probably be unwise but any kind of plastic. If you take care, smooth it out and paint it, it could look great.
 
I encourage you to give it a go! I would love to see it.

For this build I plan on doing something inspired by the "No Mans Sky" concept art that I've been looking at. A huge fan of that pastel colours so feeding off that for inspiration.

As this is my main rig I had some leftover gear from my ambilight TV project I did, some may or may not be familiar with it. Anyways...
 
I've been seeing heaps of LED backlight work stations so I figured i'd repurpose the project onto my 34", so thats exactly what I did...
 
On the 58" Samsung I had 200 of these 12mm diffused individually controllable RGB LED's

 
So I laid it all out and attached it to teh back of my 34" ultrawide.

 
Still using the Teensy 2.0 micro controller.

 
Some primitive cuts let the frame bend around with the monitor backing.

 
And much to my surprise, 108 LEDs fit on the back of this thing!

 
It gets powered by its own 5v 10A PSU but im noticing some color shift so I think im getting voltage drop by the end of the string. I might have to add the 2nd PSU I have,
 
So I can set it to Res, Blue, Green, Purple, White, or whatever static color I want however thats not the real idea. Because they are individually controllable essentially I have screen capture software running that sends that data to the micro controller and then that data to the LED's for an 'active LED backlight' that changes with whats been shown on the monitor.
 
Here's a really bad example, the lights haven't been tuned at all, the wall isn't white, its in a corner instead of flat against a wall and the camera suck but, you get the idea right?

I like that board but it's so expensive. Eh I like the Asus Z170-Pro (Non Gaming) too.

Synology tech support is awesome. The fact that they even look into these issues on devices that are now out of warranty is fantastic. Took a few days but well worth the wait. Love you guys!
I get 10mbit down but am on a true unlimited plan. I managed to get 9999.946gb (64mb off 1tb) in a month when I first switch but even then. If all I did was dl what I lost it would be 15months worth.
But... It's back baby!!!
Now for the disk to finish adding will take like... 8 days I'll update once complete

Not sure if I like the water block over them titanium heatsinks, you might prove me wrong like you did with cutting up the radiator in your last build. Maybe if you mod the water block to be more metalicky then it would look awesome, subbed as always

Update? Sure why the hell not.
 
So all the watercooling was pulled as discussed, I ordered a NH-C14, asked Noctua for a slim ILM mount and after being berated about how they don't support it with this cooler, sent it anyway.
 
When it arrived the box for the cooler, was almost as big as my case itself.

 

 
Looking at it like this, it doesn't look like it will fit, though other people have had it fit, and with the X99-ITX motherboard so it must, right?

It was however, a complete and total bitch, as with everything else with the build! ugh! Super small sounded cool at the start. Im not going to say never again, but gee-wiz!

Look at this! obvious the PSU cables but float your eyes down and thats the little sucker! The GPU heatpipe that could not be solved!!!
