When Can a PC Be Considered Budget/Mid-Range/Enthusiast?
potoooooooo replied to jiyeon's topic in General Discussion
If you build it yourself for yourself, it's enthusiast. If you build it with a specific budget in mind, it's budget. -
Did they pass the full version or the gutted version?

It was introduced in 2015 with the Retina Macbook No, they're replacing it because of reliability issues. Not because the community hated it. A lot of people really like it, it's just unreliable. It's a really nice keyboard, it just isn't reliable and needs work.

Google is working on getting the Pixelbook to run Windows 10 Officially
potoooooooo replied to AlTech's topic in Tech News
I don't see how you can call it overpriced garbage. For 1000 dollars, the specs and build quality are all very competitive. And seeing as this isn't the first 1000 dollar chromebook from google, in fact the third, it should be pretty obvious they're not putting windows on it as a cash grab. They've been losing money on these since 2013, when the first one came out. They're probably trying to strengthen it's position as a developers tool, making it so you can do native chromeos and windows would make it a great value. Not to mention, the purpose of chromeos isn't just to run well on cheap hardware. It's to provide a bulletproof and idiotproof software experience. Running well on cheap hardware just makes it easier to sell, it's a bonus. -
Google is working on getting the Pixelbook to run Windows 10 Officially
potoooooooo replied to AlTech's topic in Tech News
This is a really ironic comment. It's no different than any other pixel product, it's meant to be a showcase of a premium product. The Pixel phones sell like 1 million units per year, it's a pittance. But that's because they're not designed to sell a ton. "proves Google doesn't understand its strengths" this is literally a product designed to showcase the strengths of Chromeos -
Apples's Software upgrade of 11.4 draining batteries
potoooooooo replied to alphaproject's topic in General Discussion
People get mad about poor performance and bugs, apple fixes the bugs and increases CPU power limits. People then get mad that battery life is worse. You can't have it both ways. -
AMD isn't clueless, they know exactly how to beat Pascal. They're investing in the future right now. They can't afford to tell sony and microsoft to go fuck themselves, they've been the most loyal customers to AMD since the PS3 and Xbox 360 released. Giving them priority is the right move, for now and for the future.

You're a lil behind on the news cycle m8. That's the developer of Tempest 4000, in this thread http://www.yakyak.org/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=87410&sid=77bcb401b566392dd951a4335128c0eb&start=240 This is being blown way out of proportion, think of how many times PS and Xbox games are caught demoing on PCs. A misleading demo doesn't make something a scam. It's a scam if something doesn't live up to promises, and atari still have months until the VCS ships.

Intel's 28 Core 5Ghz CPU is misleading at best

So what you're saying is they can lie and be deceiving as long as people can tell they're lying? Lol -
Seasonic introduces SCMD: End your cable clutter!
potoooooooo replied to WMGroomAK's topic in Tech News
A very clever concept. I would not be surprised to see this concept integrated into a few cases in the future. Inwin already likes to include PSUs in HALO products, they're a prime suspect. -
Apple plans to kill off 2010 and 2011 Mac Support with macOS 10.14 Mojave*
potoooooooo replied to AlTech's topic in Tech News
Because windows doesn't change. The underlying structure of windows 10 is basically the same as vista. Other than DX12, Windows 8.1 and 10 are functionally identical past the UI. There's a reason windows is like 40GB, and MacOS is like 10GB. -

Ideally both him and the person who donated will get charged. The donation wasn't random, it was chosen purposely. -
Atari VCS Pre-Orders Started, With 1 BIG Flaw
potoooooooo replied to The Benjamins's topic in Tech News
It's not about sustained performance, a hard drive would be fine if it were maxed on big files the entire time. But that's not how this works, it's all random small depth reads and writes, which EMMC is much weaker at than a sata or PCIE ssd would be. -
Atari VCS Pre-Orders Started, With 1 BIG Flaw
potoooooooo replied to The Benjamins's topic in Tech News
Your issue with this was the CPU, not the 32GB of slow as fuck soldered memory? The CPU is fine for the price. But it's going to be seriously hamstrung by the EMMC -
That's a really good price. Suspiciously good, in fact

Too bad this isn't going to change anything. USA today removed all of their tracking. Not just the stuff that GDPR was making illegal. As soon as they can get their lawyers on it it will be getting worse again.

Cheap AliExpress Graphics Cards - SCAM???
potoooooooo replied to Emily Young's topic in LTT Releases
They probably did. A video on youtube makes more money when it's 10 minutes or longer. The video is exactly 10 minutes because they presumably padded it to get to the 10 minutes mark for the better ad revenue -

GOG picks up visual novels in the wake of the waifu holocaust
potoooooooo replied to matrix07012's topic in Tech News
A magazine about cars featuring a woman in a bikini is not a magazine about women in bikinis. The games that were warned were unironic softcore porn. The scantily clad cartoon women were basically the entire point. If you can't understand how this is different to The Witcher and GTA V you are being willfully ignorant -
BTW, the H700 does exist now. Ditto for all the Hxxxi cases.

Just because it's only softcore porn doesn't mean it isn't still porn
