    Still probably no lol

the A220 has the benefit of being a clean sheet design. Boeing has effectively said piss off to that market so.

I don't have any issue against a re-certified max after a year of service but not as a 717 replacement.

In my mind the A220 can be the only 717 replacement for several reasons that I think make the most sense.

But that being said the 717 should remain in service for 5-10 more years.
4-6 if they want to hurry things a long a little sooner if fuel prices shoot up quicker than expected/

like I'd hate to take market share from Delta because American and United are smaller players for travel in and out of Huntsville International Airport
but a dream of mine would be to start an airline that gives Huntsville direct connections to many cities in the US. Have a fleet of Airbus A220-100s and some A220-300s. I don't know for sure if international would be viable but if it could I think it'd realistically go for A321s for closer international and A330neos and A350s for further away international

Maybe 787 could find a way in the fleet idk.

Alas that's all a dream because well JetBlue's founder is making a new airline with a similar concept but out of Utah with those A220s lol

717s would be dope but they're hard to come by lol

Boeing never really paid much mind to the MD planes they inherited, namely the MD-11 and the 717. They never really messed with them when they bought MD out because Boeing really didn't want to deal with the planes in the first place. All Boeing really intended to do was what MD intended to do in the first place: finish orders of the MD-11 for cargo airliners, retrofit DC-10s with the MD-11 cockpit and keep support for the operators of them.
Again, the 717 died because Boeing didn't want it to beat out their precious 737. And now they're scrambling to get a regional jet because they threw away the 717 and Airbus struck gold with the old Bombardier CSeries turned A220.

Well I found where the first plane I ever flew on N365DN, is being stored in Victorville to endure the COVID-19 outbreak's havoc on Air travel

March 11th, 2020 from Minneapolis to Atlanta

this is the full image from bloomberg

I see some DC-9 family back there. Some 717s I believe were put in storage, those could be it. Idk

    Oooh an airplane thread!

    I've flown on:

737 (don't remember all the variants, but recently only the -800)
    747 (-400)
    757 (-200 I'm pretty sure)
    767 (unsure of variant)
    777 (-300ER and -200ER)
    787 (-8, -9)
    A319
    A320
    A321
A330 (unsure of variant, but most likely I've flown on both the -200 and -300)
    A340 (-300)
    A380
    Cessna 402
    Piper Archer III

I've also flown on lots of other aircraft, but I can't remember the exact types.

We talking about the types we flown on eh? 👀
As pax: 737-all NG and one classic, 767 (unsure what variant), 777-200LR/300/300ER, 747-400/400 combi (KLM used to use a combi between AMS and NRT so have had 16 trips on one), A319/320/321, A300, A330-200/300, A340-300, A380, ATR72, Dash-400, ERJ-170/190, E175/190, BAe 146. A few is missing but can't remember their names right now...

As PIC or P.u/t: C152 (normal, aerobat and long-range), Tomahawk, Supercub, SportCruiser, C172 and Warrior II.

As far as I know, the MD11 basically is a modified DC10, both planes were manufactured by McDonnell Douglas which was later bought by Boeing. The DC 10 had a lot of accidents, earning it the unofficial name "Death Chamber 10". After all those faults/weaknesses were ironed out, the DC10's reputation was so bad it would have been unwise to continue producing them with the same name and using them as passenger aircraft.  In a way, the dilemma with the DC 10's reputation reminds me of the whole 737 MAX story (I can't wait to see how that one plays out).

    yeah lol
the 717 is @handymanshandle favorite plane, can't remember if he said he's ever been on one lol
but they're pretty nice lol I liked it. I was sitting a bit behind the wing both trips.

I really want to get the chance to fly on an A220 with Delta sometime.

I'd like to fly on a 747-8 since it's still related to the legacy of the other 747s lol

Good thing Lufthansa and Korean are keeping their -8s for passenger service foreseeable even though Lufthansa is getting rid of the older 747s and possibly entirely done with the A380s

Nice you got to fly on a B717! I've wanted to fly on some DC9 variant/decendant for a while. I might have as a baby or little kid, but I can't remember doing it. I've also always wanted to fly on a 747, but that's never happened and is looking less likely every year. Did get to go on an a340-600, which until the B747-8 was the longest passenger jet.

there is no easy way to get into a jet. cheapest way would be an older jet even then most turbo props are plenty fast and much cheaper.
This is close but I maybe missing some. I've been flying sense I was just a few months old all around the US and to a few countries. When I was born my Grandpa still worked for united and I've flown lots on their passes, until they changed the system so that current crew always get ahead of retired.
    Flown on
    727, 737, 747, 757, A320, A321 (likely missing some airbus ones)
    CRJ 200, 500, 700
I think every major ERJ model

    Been in control
1935 piper cub. 172SP with glass and a 172, 152A with 4 point for aerobatic. (I'd have to check my log book for any more details)

Like a leasing program almost not unlike leasing a car but I feel like even then that'd be expensive and insurance might not be nice either.

I should really get back into flying and do my private pilots license given how cheap gas is. I've also gotten an empty summer.
I've just got to find a cheaper place that has 172s that doesn't seem sketchy af.
    230-250 is a lot for 172 training.

Definitely not! It's super simple, and there's a few good install guides on here whether you're running windows or Linus. Currently Navi cards are supported on windows, but have having trouble getting up and running on Linux.
Besides power use, not really. CPU's are just less efficient at folding when it comes to power drawn and the PPD (points per day) produced. Just make sure you leave one core open per Nvidia GPU. (So dont try to fold with all 4 cores and 8 threads)

Folding@home is a network of volunteer computers distributed around the world that aims to perform biomedical research with the single intent of helping to further understand and develop cures for a range of diseases such as; Alzheimer's, cancer, and Parkinson's. The exact research that is done is simulating the 'folding' of proteins in the body, this is important because the function of a protein id directly related to its physical shape. And this, when the protein is created in the body it needs to reshuffle its shape to get into the correct structure to perform its task. Many illnesses can be linked to faulty proteins in the body such as many cancers and neurological issues, along with a wide number of other general health concerns. This network if compared with the TOP500 list of supercomputers would fall into 2nd, Folding@home is one of the world's fastest computing systems, with a speed of approximately 98.7petaFLOPS. It would be 50% faster than the fastest x86 computer currently listed on the top500.

    COVID-19
But this is not why we are here, we are here to join the legion of other folders from around the globe who have taken up the fight against COVID-19.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common across the world.  These viruses can cause mild symptoms ranging from a fever and cough to more serious conditions such as severe pneumonia, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
In December 2019, a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) was first identified in Wuhan City, China.  This virus has now spread to other countries.  The UK Chief Medical Officers have declared the risk to the public to be moderate. But the risk to individuals remains low.

    PASSKEYS! (they're really important)

Don't forget to get yourself a passkey from the link below to ensure that you hit the points requirement, the passkey is a feature that was added a while ago to the Folding Client that helps to authenticate each user on the network, an added bonus of this is the fact that it allows you to qualify for QRB(Quick Return Bonus) Points, QRBs are extra points you earn for submitting work units more quickly, such as if you have faster hardware or let the client fold full time, rather than on idle. QRB credit is awarded after 10 WUs have been submitted. You can get your passkey from the link below.

This is just a PSA for the new guys here, the folding team is a small close knit community, so here's a few things I'd like you all to keep in mind. It doesn't hurt to say thank you, if someone has genuinely helped you out don't forget to drop a reaction on their posts, help others where ever you can and finally we are a team first and always.

Check your stats out here! Bare in mind it can take some time for your first WUs to appear so leave it a day or two.
