  1. I'd recommend this modem and then getting something like an asus router like this for example I too agree with Donut417 (update)
  2. Lol.. Well the router supports it. I have no idea if the switch does; I mean wouldn't it auto detect it? Would I be able to check the connection link between the router/switch if a PC was connected to said router via cable using the command prompt? Or even in the log file of the router? (Update 1; Just wanted to say that with tech these days, the hardware actually supports a lot more than what the firmware has included in it..) You'd be surprised how much more you can get out of something feature wise just by switching to a different firmware. Yes it can be buggy but if you're willing to patch it, it's worth it..
  3. Unless your having packet loss issues on your local network to the modem, or are lacking the bandwidth to support said game then I really don't think you need to worry about ping. I mean unless it's like 150+... then yeah you probably have packet loss issue or maybe a bad cable.. I use http://www.pingtest.net/ to verify that you don't have any packet loss. (requires special permissions to work correctly both with JAVA and windows/firewall) (Update I think it really only works on IE11 I can never get it to work correctly on chrome.. maybe adblock is effecting my permissions) Image example: Spoiler
  4. So I'm hosting a lan party hopefully around the first week in January 2016; if I can get the network issue solved. Right now my problem is this 16 Port TP-link switch (TL-SF1016D 10/100mbps switch) tends to crash and by that I mean it simply kills the main line from the router to the switch yet keeps everyone that's directly connected to it on. I believe this is due to us overloading the 100MB line to the router. SO to fix this I was thinking about assigning lan ports 3&4 to link aggregation and give the switch 2 dedicated ports for more bandwidth throughput. In theory this should fix my problem yes? Now I know it's called many things other than Link Aggregation; but basically I'm bonding 2 ethernet cables to the networking switch to potentially allow double the throughput. When this crash happens I can still access the internet if I plug direct into the router that the switch is plugged into so I know it's not the router that's being overloaded. + The router supports gig link speeds just is limited to 100MB cuss the switch tops out at that. My network is kinda weird you could say. Incase you need to know the network setup - (Modem) | (Asus router running Merlin firmware) Port 1- Windows XP computer Port 2 | --- Goes directly to the garage connects to a netgear router running DD-wrt (firmware) And then thier is a 16 port networking switch connected to that router/accesspoint 2. Port3 |---- Goes directly to the back side of the house connecting to a 5 Port networking switch for consoles and a windows vista PC. There's also a netgear router connected to that switch for access point. Port 4 |-----------The last port on the main router connects directly to my windows 10 PC. The asus router has a gig connection link to the modem and my PC, The dd-wrt router also has a gig connection link to the main asus router. Everything else only supports 100MB link speed connections. All the connections use Cat6 cable.
  5. So you want to use router 2 as an Access point but with Lan ports working. Ok, Example Router 1 Spoiler Router 2 Connected to ethernet port on router 1. Example settings Spoiler This config will allow you to setup a different wifi + use the lan ports on router 2. Hopefully you can just follow this example (replace with your settings) and you'll be good to go. (Update: Fixed Images not working; Also, router 1 IP pool starting should be like 192.168.1.4 so that it doesnt mistakenly give out the 192.168.1.2 that router 2 needs in order to function..) Also, make sure you plug the ethernet cable on router 2 into a lan port not the wan! (Unless their is an option on router 2's firmware to enable wan port as another lan port) Example image of that here you can see a check box that switches the WAN port to a normal ethernet port: (image isn't displaying correctly but it shows it in router 2's image.)
  6. Well I guess technically it's a switch. But i'm just used to calling them both networking hub's; maybe it's because a true HUB is really only used for special circumstances these days. I mean yeah true hub's were cheaper than switches back in the day, but with switches being so cheap now there's really no point in not getting a switch. Like I said unless you really need a HUB for special circumstances..
  7. I'd recommend installing someithing like defraggler http://www.filehippo.com/download_defraggler/ If you install it and run analyze it should tell you if your hard drive is healthy or has a problem/is dying. At least you'll know if it's a hard drive failure. If it's not then its probably an OS that's become corrupted or even faulty drivers..
  8. Ok so it goes like this; (Modem) | (Asus router running Merlin firmware) Port 1- Windows XP computer Port 2 | --- Goes directly to the garage connects to a netgear router running DD-wrt (firmware) And then thier is a 15 port networking HUB connected to that router. Port3 |---- Goes directly to the back side of the house connecting to a 5 Port networking HUB for consoles and a windows vista PC. There's also a netgear router connected to that HUB. Port 4 |-----------The last port on the main router connects directly to my windows 10 PC. The asus router has gig ports and the modem/my PC are the only 2 devices that support that link speed. Everything else only supports 100MB connections. Except the netgear router that's in with the consoles only gets about 55MB over wifi because well it's just a crappy router with a dinky antenna and other devices may or may not be eating up the bandwidth in that particular section of the house.. Hopefully that clears up any misunderstandings..
  9. You may have to clear Cmos after removing the GPU if you cannot get into bios.
  10. Open your Nvidia control panel, click configure surround, PhysX and under Physx settings select the drop down arrow and select your GPU instead of auto or CPU... hit apply and see if it fixes your issue..
  11. Spoiler http://www.gliffy.com/go/publish/image/9707005/L.png The image was quite large so I made it into a spoiler.. Hope it works. The network latency is identical across all 3 Access points whether it's wifi or direct connection (I'm including Main Router) 18-20 Ping with zero packet loss. I have charter spectrum internet and love it. Rarely have issues or outages (after I bought my own modem).. And when I do it's usually something I did.. The Ones with multi channels are 2.4Ghz and 5G wifi channels. I used cat6 standard rj45 connectors on everything except the one between the modem to main router. I used a crossover cable for that as a patch cable seemed to have given it a higher latency between 25 - 33... Thinking about adding a PFsense firewall... But Merlin is running a custom/modded firewall I whipped up + DD-wrt Access point is also running a modded version of DD-wrt firewall... And that netgear crappy one is disabled for firewall cuss uhh; yeah just cuss.... The phone line is running the old standard 4 strand copper line I forget what that stuff is called... We also have 7? TV's in our home but I really didn't want to map out the Coax lines and all cable boxes/splitters... http://www.pingtest.net/result/136731528.png <(Update Added Ping test)
  12. Try turning league shadows off in settings.. (I know with some drivers it has issues..) Load into a custom game just to check.
  13. Well maybe, I know with the Asrock motherboards if left to system to adjust voltage it will underclock the CPU if it detects insufficient power levels.. (such as GPU hogging it all...)
  14. I recommend this EVGA PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438012 My Bro runs a 960 EVGA SC 2G edition card, with an A 10-6800k APU and 16 gig ram. (2x8gig sticks). With like 5 fans 3HDD and one ssd. He has not had any issues with power.. Funny thing this PSU supports crossfire/sli. Also, He uses the 500WAT PSU listed above. ^ (UPDATE: Kind of fixed grammar/punctuation.)
  15. It was a conflict with the xbox app in windows 10. Fixed it. Now that it's switched to the nvidia encoder it runs like butter. Uploaded new stream http://www.twitch.tv/darkcrow_2nd/v/31375913 This time CPU usage doesn't exceed like 41% while gaming while streaming (gaming at 1920x1080p 60fps) (downscaled stream to 1280x720p 60fps) Update actually now that I am looking at the replay footage it looks worse... but the stream looked fine. weird. update 2 I have the latest drivers... 361.43 release date 12-21-2015...
  16. Well... I'll try switching the encoder to nvidia and see if it improves.. Last time i tried it kinda crashed....
  17. Does streaming require a lot of ram?
  18. Whats quick sync? is it an option in the software? Also, If my CPU is underpowered.. Then why is my CPU usage only peak to 60%... its a quad core onboard GPU is turned off..
  19. X264 encoder is what it was defaulted to. How do I fix the hitching? 3500 i posted it above^
  20. Okay, so I have tried using the nvidia geforce shadowplay to stream to twitch and well it is thee worst piece of crap software I have ever seen... I finally got it to stream and it dropped frames to the point of it not even working basically.. Then I tried Open Broadcaster Software. Installed it (which by the way every time I launched the installer it was like oh yeah... you need to install this first like 4 or 6 times... (each different things needed) and finally I got the freaking thing working. set it up streamed a game and for some reason the quality is ok but not good enough... and I do not know what I am doing wrong. My CPU usage is barely peaking at 50 to 60%... Please if anyone knows how to fix or improve my streaming quality let me know.. Hardware specs are AMD APU 6800K 4.8Ghz OC 8G ram 2400speed Nvidia GTX 960 2G evga SC edition Intel SSD 240Gig 1920 by 1080p monitor using HDMI Running Windows 10 64bit Professional N edition. I have the latest drivers and updates I have tuned my network to the best that I can get it. I get a ping of 19 66MB down and 4.70MB UP I've set the encoding thing to 3500bit and even downscaled the resolution to 1280x720 at 60fps. Here is a link to my test video stream http://www.twitch.tv/darkcrow_2nd/v/31332419 (fast forward to 26min) I hope the link works.. That is the best I could get maybe I have something set wrong... I sometimes get frame rate drops to 30fps but almost instantly shoot up to 60... If anyone can recommend other software perhaps? or maybe have any ideas to try? I'm more then willing to give it a go..

So I was supposed to go to a Skype date with so…

...I legit had no idea Skype dating was a thing nor did I know it existed and I just turned 21 today. So... 1. I'm sorry to hear about that. and 2. I hope things work out for you. best regards kyle.
  22. I would recommend running a chkdsk test using the OS tool. heres a windows 7 link on how to do it. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2641432 And heres a windows 10/8 or 8.1 link http://www.thewindowsclub.com/disk-error-checking-windows-8 I believe that some of those errors are from a corrupt OS and if you check auto fix it will repair your OS by itself. This usually works. I also, recommend doing it the windows 7 way. It should work even on windows 8/10 tho the way to get to it may be different if so I'll tell you how to find it. Another thing I would do is load defaults in bios and see if it crashes after running on default settings. If it's still crashing after chkdsk and default bios settings. Then remove all but one of your ram sticks and use your onboard display output and see if it still crashes.
  23. Mods usually conflict with other mods/plugins so if you recently installed another mod or plugin then it's probably causing a conflict which is causing the game to crash...
  24. I'd really like this because my grandfather enjoys playing games even tho he's 74 now. He doesn't like computers taking up space so he uses a laptop but has a monitor, mouse, external storages and keyboard plugged into it.. If he had something like this he wouldn't need to deal with all that nonsense.. Infact he'd probably strap it to the back of his monitor with velcro or something. lol
