I would 100% want a bag like they showed on the WAN show, but for the love of god, could there be a non-orange version? have a grey-inside stealth version? I'm also a 13" kinda person, don't want an A3-sized bag

There's plenty of other grey bags. Lmg prefers to have vibrant insides so you can find what you need easily.

  2. I didn't initially agree with the others for 17in version.

But the comments are right. LTT making products for niche tech use cases makes sense. Make it the whale 🐳 bag.

I assume you will fit the MacBook / Framework sizes. I don't know what kinds of models 17in laptops are made for nowadays but they are probably beefy.

Still prefer a messenger bag instead of a separate steam Deck and laptop bags. That seems wasteful. A 16in laptop and steam Deck or switch should fit in the tech messenger bag. Charger, mouse pockets are welcome. Along with other tech specific features.

    Three sizes 14in, 16in, 18in jumbo version.

  3. Originally I wanted to give my thoughts on the steam deck pouch that it should be bigger. But now I agree we need a sling/messenger instead of dedicated to a console.

There are plenty of switch cases and accessories. Please do not target the switch alone.

If possible. Allow both the steam deck and switch to sit in their own compartments.

Something like this sling but for tech products and bright orange interior.

    https://www.wotancraft.tw/en/product/pilot-travel-camera-sling-bag-10L-khakibrownC

Sling with front pocket for phone, battery bank and cables. Maybe a way to have cable come out without losing water resistance so you can charge the phone while walking and using it.

Able to charge the deck/switch inside would be great. Big compartment would be split for Deck and switch/other. Place for 2 sets of joycons if travelling with switch disconnected from joycons. Place for extra micro SD card, usb and switch games cartridges, mouse.

10-12L might be good size. Modular parts like the Wontancraft would be great for those that only have one console type.

More useful than tech pouch but smaller than backpack. With peak design quick adjustable style shoulder strap. And please make the shoulder strap rugged and comfortable so it's not digging in or too mushy. Having water bottle slot is a must. But maybe on both sides. So water bottle and umbrella or something. Maybe one side is a quick access to laptop or Deck compartment.

I like the direction creator warehouse is going with for the most part except the bottom water bottle. That is a terrible solution. I want the same design principle as the backpack that the sling can stand on its own. And I don't want my waterbottle knocking against stuff I sit on.

    Hopefully this thread helps.

  5. Video idea. LTT Keyboard Crafting series or livestream. Anthony, Alex, Jonathon from MA all compete to create a fully customized keyboard from scratch. Go full customizable and make different keys feel different for different purposes, custom mill templates instead of buying online. I want to see Jonathon optimize different keys with different mechanical key types and how he prefers it and then how he plans to finish off the custom design. No prebuilt. All custom or kits from scratch. With requirement of using at least 3 different key switches. And then test which of the custom keyboards the rest of the team prefers.

Apple also targets a 70/30 split, which is competitive with Android, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony and many others. Yet you somehow think you're above your own criticism of others?!

Maybe in like... the 200 bazillion videos that you complain about Apple's split, you could have prefaced the rants with "Oh by the way, my own platform takes 30% from the creators on it just like the company I'm about to complain about".

But we're a special case and need to take so much to cover our costs...

Apple in 2019 had over 300 employees (just for the US) manually validating and approving apps and their updates. That's likely at least 15 million in salary. How much more in healthcare? Another 5?

What about the teams in all the other countries? Millions upon millions of more dollars spent. What about the developers of Apple's dev tools? The software engineers that work on the store? The infrastructure (and army of network engineers) to support over a billion users constantly downloading/updating apps, making purchases, etc?

I realize this sounds super combative but it's just... disappointing with the amount of hypocrisy. Put your money where your mouth is andlower your split to something like 85/15 if you truly believe in what you're saying. Otherwise, all of this criticism from you guys is entirely invalid and in bad faith.

Buddy, distributing an app around the world is leagues different than maintaining/providing a video streaming platform. There is a reason YouTube was mentioned and not game stores. Your comment makes no sense with the context. You are also explaining the costs of development which is still different use case than high bandwidth streaming.

    Microsoft switched to 12% BTW.

Floatplane allows for each creator to apply their own prices which helps with the 30% cut. Yet for apps on both Android and Apple stores they need to match the same rates. So Floatplane can't charge 5 dollars on android/browser and 6.5 on Apple to cover some cost.

The Apple 30% cut applies to everyone. The android cut applies only to app developers that use the Android payment processing. Any company that has their own payment processing like Floatplane would take a loss using Apples system. That is one of the points in the Epic v Apple case. I believe you need to review the actual argument Epic has made, they have quick read points.

There are a lot more detail but it is clear that you have not understood the conversation.

  7. Hello folks,

YouTube algorithm showed me this channel. Which let me to this IOStack setup that installs several of the software I want to try and get working. Seems like a great script and interface to get things working without much hassle with ports and minimal effort.

I was wondering if anyone might have experience with this and if you can help verify the script is safe.

  8. @LinusTech@nicklmgHas LMG looked into partnering with American Eagle instead of the current supplier that you use? Leverage the options for the main AE and the womens Aerie line for LMG merch. Of course without the LMG branding but something new.

Having gotten a few LTT merch over the past couple years,As a dude, I find the American Eagle fit and material more (not by much though) comfortable on my skin.

Definitely need a new design for hoodie, all the stitching on that old design irritates my skin a lot. Wish I could have returned that one on time.

  9. These ROG reboot folks have made it clear they have seen LTT and yet have trouble with PC building/component to identify. There has to be a way LTT can make a guide that can appeal to that audience and teach them. Lots of graphics and on screen texts perhaps. But there seems to be an audience ready to learn outside of the average PC tech person.

  10. Summary

Facebook is accelerating it's push in Indian market to help transition small businesses to digital.

    Quote

Zuckerberg revealed that 15 million out of the 50 million merchants using WhatsApp for Business globally are in India, and the Facebook-Jio partnership will further "impact this segment".

    Quotes

    Quote

The Facebook CEO was in conversation with Mukesh Ambani, Chairman & Managing Director, Reliance Industries, at the Facebook Fuel for India 2020 event.

“With more than 60 million small businesses and millions of people around the country relying on them for jobs - these small businesses form a big part of what our partnership with Jio can serve here. This is especially important because small businesses in India will be a key part of the global economic recovery going forward. And we're focused on making sure we build the best tools for them,” he added.

    My thoughts

Deals like this that are happening in African and Asian countries will affect the world and are important to pay attention to. Google, Microsoft and others are actively investing in developing markets. After Facebook purchased WhatsApp for industry record amounts, the plan to monetize it is being made true soon. WhatsApp usage started in India due to it's original ability to postpone sending messages until later like when access to data was possible. Since then it has skyrocketed.

  11. Over the few times James has been on the WAN show he has mentioned a few podcasts he listens to.

I am very curious to hear more of what he listens to because I have enjoyed his mentions. He seems to be really good at curating.

Either a small segment on WAN Show written by James or full on Hosting a short show on CarPoolCritics would be my suggestion.

I really hope to hear James and other LMG members on what they listen to in terms of podcasts and any relations they can make on how it has impacted them or their view of a subject.

  12. Hey LMG, can you try to do techquickies and when travel is safe go to India and have videos on the vehicles that have replaceable batteries? I am sure Linus would want to check out the electric bikes that are popular, with one such that I know of that instead of charging it up at a station, they have a system to just replace the battery instead. There is a car version of this model as far as I am aware as well.

    From re-viewing the video

and listening at 1:39:17 the troubles and solutions Linus faced to help his somewhat tech-laic grandparents I got this GREAT VIDEO IDEA that I don't think anyone explored yet (searched YouTube and found none like it)

Get Edzel Yago to play grandma and Taran Van Hemert to play grandpa, and considering Linus experience and experience from fans on this thread, LMG writers could iterate in a series of videos or just in one, how ONE could help out grandparents and other family members to get ISP service working and seting up a solution to keep in touch with relatives.

COVID-19 Pandemic is not going away soon, and thus, one / or several video tutorials could be a "life saver" for a lot of LTT fans less knowledge on the advantages to get 2nd hand hardware and online crutial services needed to setup the whole shebang.

My inspiation comes mainly from this video, but also most of the Scrapyard Wars series and the solution for Yvonne's parents home at Singapore.

I like the idea of just getting fan submissions for what kinds of things they have difficulty helping non-tech literate people and doing one big live stream answering those questions. But I can see most of the issues would arise when using something completely different. You can show how to work with an Asus router all day and get no result because the other party has a locked down ISP modem combo.

  14. I would like to see LTT series that is the antithesis of Black Mirror. You have your regular content that sheds light on ongoing issues with technology/security/privacy (especially on WAN show).

Can we see an ongoing series that delves into envisioning a more positive Star Trek like utopian technology world would look like?

Just leave out any negative thoughts and practice some sort of stubborn optimism to create one instance of positive influence on society each episode.

  15. Hi,

I am trying to host team video conferencing on Discord. We have had many drops and glitches. The rest of the team wants to move to Zoom and just pay for it. I would like to avoid that but having trouble finding something cheaper. Discord/Slack have the per person payments and this is just a First Lego League team. We wouldn't want to pay that much for everyone.

If anyone has experience with Server Boosting performance. I would like to know have you had any issues after boosting to lvl1? Did you have problems on the free version? We have people on laptops, tablets, mobiles. One of the memers that wants to switch to Zoom is because they did not have the issues of quality and droping out as well as sound echo if not using headset on Zoom.

I am leaning towards Hangouts as well. But I am not sure if there is screen sharing and if it would be easy for a team.

  16. I would like to see more in depth factory tours. More along the lines of documentaries that encompass the entire process pipeline to some extent. I would assume much of it would be explained through graphics. Seeing stuff like raw programming wouldn't be entertaining but to get really technical you could do these tours and give a few mins to explain the company culture, project management styles and how the teamwork allows for the creation of a product.

  17. Is the Luke and Linus Star Wars Commentary going to be some sort of cross over episode with the WAN Show and Carpool Critics but like the live tweeting version?

I would really be down to have Linus flesh out his ideas on how the sequel trilogy could have been. I really enjoyed the concept and would be very interested if this Luke/Linus Star Wars Commentary was a stepping stone to a more fleshed out "fanfic". I say "fanfic" because like... if the creators don't care why does it matter.
