About a week ago, Aliso Niguel High School, a school in the Orange County area of Southern California won a competition for the most student surveyors on Chegg.com, a tutoring website. The school won a concert hosted by Macklemore and a $10,000 grant.
But rumor says that 6 parents did not like this idea, as his music "Promoted Drug Use" and other rumors state that the lead person of the music facilities denied the $10,000 because he did not support gay rights, but Macklemore (As we all know) does. Whatever caused this, who knows. But what we know is that yesterday early Monday, October 12th the principal announced that they have officially declined this offer, stating that quote, "We have had complaints from parents, and will not be accepting this generous prize". She even had a picture of herself holding the giant check plastered to the homepage here: https://anhs-capousd-ca.schoolloop.com/
And so naturally, many students(and even parents as well as random supporters) have been angered and with the hashtag #bringbackmac have started to protest this movement. One person named Sydney Freeman Sacker started a change.org petition to fight back at 8:00PM on the same day. When this was posted, supporters have already reached roughly 5,500 backers. Macklemore himself has even retweeted (here: https://twitter.com/macklemore/status/653802025272999937 ) a student's post quoting "That's disappointing". More about this here: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/macklemore-687313-students-parents.html MTV had an article as well: http://www.mtv.com/news/2347743/macklemore-ryan-lewis-aliso-niguel-high-school-chegg-contest-grant/
I, as a student of this high school, kindly ask of the LTT community to step up, get that hashtag trending, and support the cause on change.org. Again, any type or kind of support is helpful, but this is all your free will. And if you do support the cause, I as well as all the high school students thank you for your participation in this movement. Again, you can support the cause at https://www.change.org/p/aliso-niguel-high-school-allow-macklemore-at-aliso-niguel-high-school
EDIT: Our school is struggling to keep funds up, and they declined it. I feel like thats stupid, don't you guys?
I mean, 50 cent worth lunch for $3.00?!?! I could get better food and even more at Costco.
    EDIT2: It was a Q&A session apparently.
UPDATE: WE GOT THE Q&A & THE GRANT BACK! For those of you who supported, thank you!

About Macklemore frankly it's no big deal, it's the 10k bucks they turned down for completely unconnected reasons that would anger me.

When reading about this it reminded me sort of how the residents and families of people involved in the college shooting here in Oregon denied the president visiting them, saying it was "all just political" when, in reality, he was giving his condolences to those who had been struck by the shooting.

Seems pretty selfish of the faculty to turn down a chance to improve the program for students over their personal feelings on a political issue.

The ZIP code of my general area is 92677, USA. so use that. Most of your builds exceed the $500 limit in my area, or are just missing the WiFi adapter. Some aren't even compatible with the case you guys choose (listed at the bottom). My client does not have ethernet access and will be doing simple gaming, no streaming and such.

There is also no overlocking to be done to this build, so stock cooling should be fine. This is a fully performance and budget oriented build, and I would like no rebates. If there is a window to the case you choose, please try to color match it correctly. (Such as blue-blue, blue-black, etc.)

Thats the main task here i guess. Thanks for the help though!

The TP-Link adapter is not needed. The Maximus VI Formula has dual band a/b/g/n/ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Not sure why the ICY Dock unit is in the build. The 3.5" drive bays in the Vengeance C70 are compatible with 2.5" drives.

While I might quibble with some of the choices, it is a solid system.

I see that the concept of paragraphs is still causing difficulty. Start a new paragraph for each new thought/topic. Makes a post a great deal easier to read and understand.

X99 is not the "way of the future". X99 is aimed squarely at the low to mid range workstation market - content creation, cad, modeling etc.

Z97 is intended for enthusiasts and gamers. It will have Broadwell cpu sometime in the first half of this year. Games typically perform better with higher clocked cores. Few games can even take advantage of the extra cores/hyperthreads on X99.

The fury over the GTX 970 was much ado about nothing. Reviewer benchmarks are accurate and on the same hardware as shipped to consumers.

The added expense for the monitors is as much to get a model with Display Port interfaces. If one is concerned about the future, DP is almost certainly going to become the standard interface.

The original OP list included SATA cables. I simply pointed out that there are 4 SATA data cables in the Asrock motherboard box.

So I listened to both of you. I heard you. And you guys helped. I went for a LGA 1150 to lower my cost, and went with ASUS monitors that support DP. Then I shot the USB wifi to PCIe internet. I changed my Case, and made it black with a red inside theme.

The only downside I see is actually the color scheme with my accessories and and DDR3 to DDR4 memory change. But that doesn't matter too much.

Honestly I think my build got quite stronger and cooler than it did now, and I was able to spend more money on the monitors.

Im sorry I said this but "any way of lowering my cost" was helpful, but not that much. My original plan was $3000, with $150 wiggle space. And I did achieve that thanks to you guys. Reddit isn't that helpful is it . If I should change something, just hit me up again.

I think I misread some things, such as I should get a Z97 or I should get a GTX 970. But I think this is a good build (feel free to judge me if I'm wrong, like i said any help appreciated). And the GTX 980/970? My friend is like, the god at fixing things and he got the display ports working . Also, he's giving me a $500 GPU for free! So I'm gonna take advantage of that and SLI that beast.

    Anyway thanks guys!
P.S.- Read your paragraph situation, tried to fix it.

Get a H110 instead of the H100i maybe? It looks like your case supports it and I think it's worth the $15ish price to upgrade.
Also you can shave some $10s off of your motherboard I think. Maybe the MSI one.
Same with the ram about saving some money. The basic crucial stuff looks good.
G910 only has RGB over the G710 so you could do that to save $80.
The G930 works good for me and I find it worth it (I had to go to old drivers to make mine work good though)
If you're playing league or dota or similar I recommend the G302 because of how easy it is to click the mouse. I went back to my G9X a while ago for a game and it was quite annoying how much different it was. That's $15 savings there I think if you get the G302.
Wifi adapter doesnt need to be AC I assume so maybe look for one that's just N or something for another possible $10-15.

Just a few things i noticed you could take into consideration since you are trying to save money:

1x 980 is fine for Streaming 1080p or playing on a 144hs monitor. At which point a lower wattage/cheaper PSU will also be okay.
$15 mouse pad? Steel series had a really great one for under $10.
Motherboards come with 4 or so sata cables, so no need to buy more.
HDD to ssd? That case has a spot for an SSD. So no need for that.
Are you planning on using that wireless card for streaming and gaming over? Not a good idea. if you do have an AC router... it could work okay, but just a long Ethernet cable with be nice and stable and fast for streaming HD.

Thanks a lot! Really helped me save a few extra dollars. Only reason why I'm going 2 gtx 980's is because I won't be upgrading this computer for a very, VERY long time, so might as well go with the best of it. Also the gtx 980 I own only has the DVI and HDMI working. All 3 Displayports are non-functiona (Broken)l. It was a gift from my friend rocking a GTX titan Z (I have no idea where he got the money ) Also the internet adapter is just in case also what to use for the time being I'm downloading drivers and crap. I will be using the onboard Ethernet soon after, but its nice to keep. Thanks a lot though! really appreciate it. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MpBpMp
