...unless he already has one... then it is not as bad.

150W (GPU1) + 150W (GPU2) + 150W (System) = 450W The PC won't even draw 400W while gaming.

What will a i7 7700 + 2 RX 480s pull?

So, you have different parts and that means all other systems are like yours?..

I agree. My system has an EVGA GS850 which is crazy overkill for what I have now (the fan pretty much never even turns on, lol), but 2 years ago I was running crossfire 290's so it was necessary at the time.
Personal preference I guess. Even though the RX 480 is only a 150w GPU, I would still go for a 650w for CF 480's, just for the little added peace of mind and headroom in case I change things up later on and need the extra grunt.

He's got an 850W because he was running two R9 290s, each drawing well over 200W.
Here, a little extra just in case: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-659086877-fuente-modular-seasonic-m12ii-620w-evo-ed-80-plus-bronze-_JM
If you want to take the chance with the 520W S12-ii, I think that will be fine as well.

I've become quite good at explaining technical terms to those less technically inclined in a way that makes sense. While I could easily become an IT admin if I so choose, oddly, I find myself contemplating a career in law instead. Delving into the worlds and conflicts of others, I find, gives me more purpose for existing than merely pursuing a hobby.

The S12 has better components that are capable of running better than the XT when heat builds up. Heat will cause cheap parts to degrade and eventually fail. Cheap parts will also usually mean instability when the unit is being stressed.
I mean, you can take a chance with the XT. It might be totally fine, I would not though.
I have an old PC with a 750 Ultra LSP. It is not a high quality unit, but it has been running steadily for almost 7 years now. My XFXPRO 750W PSU (Seasonic built) runs fine too (3.5 years).
I actually bought a Corsair CXM 550W as a back up recently... just in case one of the PSUs fail.
@DaemonWarrior44 I should mention, MEC is right... the 520W S12-ii is cutting it pretty close. The 12v rail used to power the GPU and CPU will provide 480W total, not 520W. That is 40 amperes (amps) on that 12V rail. 40A x 12v = 480W
It should still work fine.

That's an 800W PSU? 150Wx2x2 = 600W... then add 200W more?

What temperature readings are you getting when you stick a thermometer up your backside? You may need to mount an external radiator if temps aren't any good. Of course, you will need surgical screws in order to achieve a secure fitting, and preferably soft tubing. Don't go hardline, bad idea. Pump placement could be tricky though.
