    FondleSlab sounds disgusting. For me the main point is that consoles are an anti consumer closed system. Just look at the games which get downgraded fidelity thanks to them. It is especially infuriating when you consider that games like Assetto Corsa managed to improve PC performance after going to consoles. But I think this is the last gen of consoles and they won't be able to hold out much longer. The PC is just better. What I would really like to see is developers porting PS4 upscaling to the PC so that more people can try a 4K like experience with lower end hardware.

    Just ask your parents for a monthly plan (like $100 every two weeks or a month). It is a bit shitty for their part but in 5 10 months you would pay them.

    Another experience with non techies. A friend of mine lost his laptop (as in never cleaned it, used it for heavy gaming for about 5 years and the GPU literally burned down). So, he spent €700 on a laptop with a last gen i7 and a 920M. I advised him to return that one and for €100 more to get an MSI g62 with a quad core i5 and a 960M. He refused to do so... I mean why ask for your opinion and then disregard it entirely?

    More interesting is the integrated GPU performance. It achieved similar results to a 920M which is a 384 cuda core mobile chip. Enough to play most games at 720p for sure. Which means that it will be defiantly worth it to buy a laptop without discreet GPU in the low end.

    This post was beautiful... My girlfriend does this all the time XD. It is worth it. When I moved to fibre back in 2010 or something, it was totally worth it. I can't live without fibre now ^^ 150 down and 15 up (up is shit in this neck of the woods).

    Hmmm. That means it is not your gpu at fault. Could be cpu or mobo. Run a cpu stress test and see if it crashes. Run valley or heaven too and check if the crash still ocours. Do you have an over clock?

    A new eperience with non techies and a moment of wtf am I doing with my time. So, an article about the Scorpio Xbox was talking about how this console has 6 TFLOPs of "power" and it will be an absolute beast and how late next year it will be the equivalent of a computer in the mid range because it has the same tflops than a 1070 or 980 ti. So, I made a reply on that article basically saying that not all TFLOPS are born equal and that for a machine with AMD hardware, the card with similar tech and TFLOPS is the RX 480 which performs similarly to a 970. Then I mentioned that although it is a nice upgrade over current gen consoles it will be kind of low end by the time the Scorpio is out. Nothing to see there right? Wrong! Now I am being attacked by all the fanboys accusing me of talking out of my ass because reasons and, that the Scorpio will crush all PC "gaymers" super builds... Sigh... How the hell did that happen?

    Test the games with integrated gpu and someone else's gpu (you could also try to get a second hand cheap gpu if you know of no one with a gpu that you can use fpr a couple of hours) and see if the problem persists. If it does not, rma the gpu. If it does it is a mobo problem probably. Could be pci connector (well, first of all, change the pci slot of the gpu to test it) or it could be even your cpu being wonky and not making draw calls as it should... Possibilities are endless. Get cracking

    Windows settings, power options, go to advanced on your power scheme and change the pci option.

    I could be being silly but have you checked your power management menu? I had a somewhat similar problem where games kept crashing and I found out eventually that I had my PCI power settings set to energy saving instead of max performance.

    Here is a German shop called Mindfactory that had those in stock. Now they do not but you should send them an email. Their prices are better than amazon usually and they have sales often (got my 278q for less than 600 €). BTW, the tn swift is a 10 bit panel so you lose on the viewing angles but image quality is pretty good.

    I moved mine twice now. I usually take out the GPU and the HDD to avoid scratching and that is it.

    For racing games outside pcars, a 1060 will be more than enough for triple monitor setups. I know people with 970s that pull it off in assetto corsa near max settings (except for reflections. Dem mirrors use a lot of power)

    For processor if games is all he has in mind, I would go with a 6600k i5 and some fast ram. In situations where your CPU is the bottleneck, fast ram makes a difference. Also, a 1080 would run a ultra wide display without much trouble so I would use it.

    Mechwarrior Online! Game is soooo addictive and it is free! I also play regularly Kotor 2 and moded to oblivion Medieval Total War 2... Especially Europa Barbarorum. Sometimes I play empire total war too with the total realism mod and of course, GTA V... Spoiled for choice really...

    I am just getting home and will try the pulling out trick. Amazing if it works. It prevents pregnancies AND can fix video card instabilities. I own 3D mark and it runs fine... So does valley and heaven. It is just cryengine games... I hate that engine...

    Hello. I am having a bit of a problem with my 980 to. It just keeps giving me the dx11 error of crashed drivers whenever I play a cryengine game. It happened with Armoured Warfare and it is happening with Mechwarrior Online. I already removed the Overclock and installed new drivers but the problem persists (albeit it is rarer with the latest drivers from nvidia). any tips?

    True. No reason to believe this new gen will drive prices down... Quite the opposite I think. With all these technologies, prices could go up. There are no price shortcuts... You want performance, you pay performance.

    This was bound to happen. I mean joysticks and stearing wheels have had a huge quality improvement years ago. Controlers had to come next. I find this a good thing since it will bring inovation and lower prices in the end.
