Hd 600 is an amazing headphone. Lightweight, hlits harman curve very well, generally though of as one of the, if not the best headphone ever. I'm not sure of any audio technica equivalents. Not that they don't make some good gear, they do, but in regards to comfort and clarity, in my personal experience nothing they make comes close to hd600.

Dt880 is even more comfy than hd600. Good suggestion. It's a bit more linearly distirted but sounds quite good in general.

    Hey guys.

First off, thanks a ton for all the feedback on this thread. Between posting on this forum and other I was able to come to a logical conclusion.
As most of you suspected, yes the motherboard is dead. Though as to weather or not it took other components with it, I don't know yet.
I had a replacement PSU arrive from Amazon just today so I could try to bench my system with with it (it was also a way for me to 100% confirm that the PSU wasn't the problem)
I connected my RAM and GPU to the board and wired them all up, turned on the PSU annnd...nothing...

My hope here is that this failure didn't take anything else with it, but I'm going to use this as an opportunity to do some upgrading. As easy as it would be for me to just get the same board, or a similar board, and be done with it, I have no idea is my CPU survived and I'd also just rather have a system that's a bit more modern.

Again, thank you all for your suggestions and tip, every answer was a useful one!

You got a local friend who can loan you a known to be good psu? Once you get a known to be good power supply on there you can narrow it down to the motherboard side of things at least

I thought that too. But what's really weird is that both cables in solo version work just fine. The ONLY explanation I can find is that corsair's inner cable wiring is weird and connecting it with 2 cables messes something up. No idea.

Doubt it. What would happen is that the cable would overheat (if it's not thick enough) as it's delivering more power now. To actually limit power to the gpu it'd need to have some resistance in it which, of course, it does, but it's negligible. Also said resistance might, depending on the cards input impedance, cause a voltage drop, making the card even more unstable

I use winISD. No idea how you got your first graph to be so flat.
There is either way too much smoothing going on or the software isn't very accurate.

If you haven't yet, yeah try winISD.
It's really old but well trusted, you can use it to confirm your measurements.

I applied the linkwitz transform function on the graph itself. Before it was just a regular 12db/oct drop, like any closed enclosure, this is it without the linkwitz transform :

Also, unibox appears to be a bit more versatile / accurate? than winisd, give it a shot

Nice collection of cans, and I'd thought I was the only mad mofo here with more than 3 cans. BTW, what's with the cable ties on the AKG Q701? Yes, you'd modded it but why the cable ties?

So I was annoyed at the outrageous cost of some headphone stands (khm khm stax khm khm silverstone)
and considering how most of them are crap anyway, I decided to make my own.

The thing is a perfect ultrawide. Nuff said. Really. I can't literally find anything wrong with it. Fortunately I haven't experienced any factory faults or such that plague acer x34.

It has a nice crisp image with fantastic viewing angles. And it's very large. Takes a lot of space on your desk. It has an in-built FPS monitor
So far I haven't encountered any issues so I'm happy

I don't really have any equipment to tell you on a professional level how it performs, but compared to a 24 inch full HD it's like a window into a new world...
At any rate I think it's probably worth the extra over X34 due to quality control issues? Maybe? Idk.. X34 looks a bit more "conservative" but this beast is insanely beautiful.

On the side note, I posted all the images of everything because I wanted you to see EVERYTHING inside the box.

It should. Don't throw your cash around. Borrow an amp first, and compare whether or not you actually feel a difference. My money's you won't. Not implying your lack of auditory competence, just the lack of actual change it'd bring. But, electrically, and perhaps audibly too, it'll be better.

I own q701 and it doesn't need an amp to function properly. However, getting an amp+dac combo might improve your experience. Or it might be a waste of money. It would certainly be a much cleaner sound (that said, whether or not you'd even hear some noise from onboard is questionable at best, on normal levels probably you wouldn't even), perhaps it'd even bring out more from your headphones, but in all the blind tests i've seen, realtek's onboard dacs compare just well enough to the rest, and k701/q701 (probably k702 too) works just fine with onboard.
