khchewy got a reaction from Jsmooth1992 in *Project Esky* White Enthoo Luxe Build finally finished loop! Life goal complete
Hi
So I posted a while ago about the enthoo luxe build I was working on and was waiting for watercooling parts
Well they finally arrived and I finally put them together
First watercooled build complete - life goal achieved, no longer need this pc lol
Here are the wc parts together!
And unfortunately I was way too excited to stop to document the build process, but I took some pictures from my phone here and there
First gpu waterblock ever - new experience

Followed the advice
And it does look heaps cleaner
Also stuck the corsair logo thing above the phanteks logo, but I did that after I took photos
Looks pretty sick
Yeah it's so much cleaner
But more chaotic around the back
And I've gotta get those extensions in order
Good old linus

SO
My case arrived
But when I checked the box with my other stuff, I thought that they had forgotten the two dual SSD brackets I had ordered
Or I thought I had ordered, because I hadn't
Anyhow, this turned out well because measuring the SSD mounts on the back, I have surmised that one of them will not fit a dual slot bracket (though the other will)
Too bad
Or good
Eh
ANYWAY
I was unfortunately extremely excited and forgot to take pictures while I worked
So here's a couple before and after
I guess I'll take the back panel off some time to show off my messy cable management
WHAT A LARGE BOX
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Stuff
Didn't end up using the sleeving, Phanteks I/O cables aren't ghastly colours
40mins later
The Luxe is far larger than I thought it would be
Guess I should have picked up a ruler
oh baby
still waiting on white RAM to arrive

But my 2nd card arrived early
Like 10 days early. Amazon is great
Sorry iphone camera
WHAT'S THIS?
Peeking through
Don't really get why the gpu is the other way around compared to the writing
But oh well
Not iphone camera
"Additional cooling"
Still waiting on a case, should be in 11th-13th ish, then we'll have a neater build
Yeah
At the moment I really just have this crap sitting on my desk
Also, displayport seems to not work (might be the cable, will try a DP 1.2 cable, not sure what this one is)
Dell U2312HM for reference

Update with some home-made cable combs
Fairly lucky that my leatherman multitool is the perfect width at the tip
Case etc. should be shipping by the end of today
Which means I could get them by the end of the week if not earlier

khchewy got a reaction from T.E.D in New build, upgrading and replacing fried motherboard + nerdporn
Hi
I posted in prospective builds a couple weeks ago about my planned upgrade
Well some parts finally arrived today
Which took a while to get everything working together, it kept crashing on me or freezing with some visual glitches freaking the whole thing out
Tested each RAM stick manually and still had the issue, turned out something was up with the bios
Q-flash nekminit runs fine
Just installed steam and origin, downloading Bioshock infinite now
Anyway
Specs coming up, still waiting on PCCG to stock the Enthoo Luxe, and waiting for amazon to process my payment for my gpu
Very excite
Also very pleased with the siberia v2 headset I purchased suddenly after reading poor reviews of the Kraken Pro
The RAM is actually still running in 1600MHz mode, haven't enabled XMP yet after bios flash
We'll see if that brings back the problem
Intel i7 4790k
Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK
G.Skill RipjawsZ 2400MHz 4x4GB
Corsair HX850i
- EVGA GTX980 ACX2.0 Superclocked
- Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (white)
Yeah, waiting for these pretty much
Storage: SSDs in RAID0 because why the heck not, 3TB WD Green for constant backups and other junk, 750GB Samsung HDD for stuff
2x60GB OCZ Vertex3 (system)
2x128GB Samsung 840 Pro (games muhahahaha)
some hdds
I suck at photography and my room is fairly poorly lit (unless I want crazy light from outside, then I have to shoot on my bed so ceebs)
Yes I used a low f-stop and high iso, so they're pretty poor quality
Soz
I guess it'll be like 144p dialup nerdporn
Incoming nerdporn
installing windows
finished (for now)

Hey everyone!
I have a nice little update for you. I have been hard at work painting and clear coating these last few days, but have not had so much time to get so many photos. I am doing all of this at my workplace before/after work and during lunch breaks and whenever I get a free minute to spare.
In this update I show that I painted the inside of the case from black to white... And oh my does it look mighty fine!
I am in the process of painting the fans and top/bottom panels, and clear coating the painted PSU and redone front panel. I will have photos of those after the weekend for your viewing pleasure.
I hope you have liked this update
Kind regards,
Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

khchewy reacted to Maki Role in Loramentum - A watercooled, wall mounted rig - Fan and lighting upgrade! 27/01/17
Got a sweet little update for you today
Whilst I could only grab one picture before both my lights and camera ran out of battery (really should have charged those last night), I hope it explains why I'm just a little bit happy tonight. Well, that and the Halo Master Chief Collection is released at midnight (WoWoWoOoO!), definitely going to be playing the heck out of that, been a Halo fan since 01, can't shake it.
I'm not sure I follow what you mean in the first question, may want to rephrase it a bit. Material wise, as I mentioned earlier it depends, but probably acrylic or plycarbonate currently. This is likely to change though as my tools and capabilities change also.
Hehe, well to be fair it did go for pretty much a whole month without any real comments. Bah like you can complain, you've been hogging all the comments for ages now
Honestly, it may sound like a bit of a plug, but I would tell them to visit /r/watercooling on reddit. I find the reddit format works better for questions and the like. We've also spent a tonne of time and effort setting up links to useful resources for beginners, along with an extensive finished build gallery. Currently we have well over 200 builds posted there, all arranged by case and brand, meaning it's really easy to find out what people may have done in your chosen case. We also have a more exclusive choice gallery where we showcase the more exceptional builds, again handy for inspiration.
As for brands, EK are hard to go wrong with tbh, as are Bitspower. Alphacool has been a bit 50/50 recently with some people having pH problems with their rads. Personally I swear by them, but I also haven't bought one in a while so they may have changed. Aquacomputer also make some very high quality goods, their GPU blocks are works of art, although I'm still not a fan of how they don't cover the whole PCB.
Probably about £1600? Whilst it's a lot, it's not excessive as frankly the hardware is pretty reasonable, no massive TriSLI setup here with 3x Quad rads and dual loops.
I'm actually not planning on adding lighting to the build as IMO it doesn't really need it. The RAM comes with lighting installed, which is more than enough. Remember that because it's completely open, lighting is much stronger, there's also nothing to cover up the hardware and cause a lot of shade. It would just end up being turned off as it would be too intrusive.
Given unlimited tools and resources eh? Well, it wouldn't make it boring for me as I would simply change the goalposts. I design my mods around what I can feasibly manage with what I have or might be able to pick up. If say I had access to a massive 5 axis milling machine along with a 1 tonne billet of aluminium, I would happily create a desk the likes of which nobody had ever seen. Since the tooling wouldn't be a problem, I would settle on trying to make the idea as complex as possible so as to remain a serious challenge.
Acrylic all the way, doubt I'd be able to go back to flexible tubing now.
Clearly when it fell on the floor and shattered...
More seriously, it's probably the first filling of either block. Seeing the fluid pass through the block successfully is just such an amazing feeling, up until then it's nerve wracking as hell.
I'll see if I can answer the remaining questions tomorrow with an update
Speaking of which...
UPDATE!
So today I finished off everything I needed for the block to function, and did a test fill. IT WAS A SUCCESS! Not a single leak and unlike the last version, the air filtered out of the loop really quickly. You'll obviously still be able to see all the little clinging bubbles here, but that's because it had only been running for an hour or so. I used blue because it's a strong dye that's easy to see. I'd have had to use pretty much the whole bottle of yellow to be able to see anything at all. I'm also going to order some special washers tomorrow to replace the standard ones I'm using currently, I'll take some photos when they arrive, you may approve of them.

Funnily enough, if you play BF4, it's pretty much the only game that receives a noticeable performance boost from high speed memory
http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/2013/october/battlefield-4-loves-high-speed-memory
Black G.Skill 2400MHz memory if you are interested
Just my two cents, but I don't really feel like the Enthoo Luxe is really, really, REALLY worth the insane $60 price premium over the Enthoo Pro for basically aluminium panels, a bit more space for fans on the top, a pump mount, an extra fan, and some snazzy lighting. I mean, it does look freakin awesome, but if you're on a budget, I would lean towards the Pro
Also, good choice on the seasonic power supply unit
This cooler also exists
It's a little louder than the Noctua D-15, but AFAIK it performs at the same level as the D-15 which is better than the DRP3 by a bit
