  1. Oh for gods sake, my pasting in this video overwrote some of what I had typed I'll try to make sense. You'll need to watch this video to really understand what I am referring to. It's a very interesting video, worth a watch and has lots of great points. However, he refers to the view count dropping specifically on the 13th of August, something a lot of others have noticed. But specifically, that the numbers have mostly affected computer views, and not mobile. My speculation on what he is referring to (in the video), what if everyone's viewership drop across all the channels, or the entire platform, is just on computer? What if YouTube has figured out a way to prevent the likes of Anthropic, OpenAI, etc from scraping them using scraping agents on VM's, what if they were inflating the overall numbers and this is the adjustment that Linus speculated a couple of weeks back. I don't see another explanation for the sharp sudden drop in the computer only number of views. Would be interesting to hear what Dan says are the numbers across multiple platforms, and if this mobile vs computer change is across all or most platforms
  2. Requirement is a bit strong. I already have the Nest hub (bought a few for the family as smart picture frames) and it's kind of expanded from there. Babies room was cold and humid, so got smart plugs, thermometer and automated and room. Wife's cold at night so automated the electric blanket... and so on. I know I'll need to get a hub or home assistant server at some point but still exploring what I actually need and I'm in no rush. The main requirement is not wasting my time or money, hence why I was thinking about matter devices. Later on I want things to work seamlessly and I don't want to have 2 systems or have to replace half my smart devices (or at least minimise the amount) Thank you all for the input. I'll definitely consider SwitchBot stuff
  3. Fully motorised platform enclosed room simulating the experience of being inside a mech, Pacific rim or Gundam style but with the patented LTT jank on the cheap... relatively speaking I mean, a completely useless but awesome video. Maybe incorporate the 3d projector tech Linus wanted to research so no headset/helmet would be required, just looking out of the mech
  4. OK fair enough, I'll have to rethink that part...thinking more below Firstly, it's for outside so running power from inside in Irish rainy weather not ideal and second I've no home assist server set up. I've a unraid server fir plex but it's not all unless being used due to electricity costs, considering alternatives So this is the thing. I've been considering a stand alone hub as a low power alternative (something like a Aqara M3 hub but potentially I want to run a pihole and maybe a dns resolver for privacy and maybe to monitor kids Internet traffic / restrict access (currently considering it plus I'm a little ahead of myself anyway so no rush to decide) so a lower powered server is in consideration right now. In saying all that, because I'm in flux I was hoping to find a matter enabled outdoor one that I could just link to the Google hub I've already got. So might have to part the outdoor bit until I figure out my shiz
  5. So I'm finding it hard to find a matter enabled smart outdoor Temperature and Humidity sensor that doesn't require a special hub or cost €100. Any advice?
  6. Hoping for some advice. Looking for a android app that will help keep track of a shared shopping list and food levels in the cupboards and Fridge/Freezer. Linus talked on the Wan show last year about an app he uses but I couldn't find it, but I'm in Ireland so it may not be available here due to data privacy regulations or something like that (I've stumbled across this before). I am currently using Todoist but it's just a list and really not ideal, grand for a shared shopping list but they keep making changes and it's getting harder and harder to just use it they way we used to. I need to be able to have a shared shopping list with my wife, something quick and easy to use, something we can just untick items that need to be bought again each week/month. Ideally keep track of what food is in the freezer and fridge and if it can keep track of expiry dates even better. Same with the cupboards. Notification of expiring or expired food would be good too but not sure I want to be bombarded with notifications so ideally a way to control the number would be great also. I don't mind paying for the app, in fact if it's good I'd like to pay.
  7. I'd love to see a video on the Flash point Archive, the guys talk (especially Linus) about old flash games dying with such nostalgia, I'd love to see a video revisiting old games, their favourite games and giving some exposure to the website https://flashpointarchive.org/
  8. I was blown away by how serviceable it is, so simple and quick.
  9. Unfortunately it would have pushed the debris into the headphone and potentially onto the membrane.
  10. I figured here would be one of the only places people would feel my pain and relief I am working form home, my son has had a bad start so I was running late and stressed and decided to have my quick and dirty breakfast (peanut butter on toast) at my desk, something I don't normally do for obvious reasons. While trying to plug my laptop in I leaned over and knocked off my lovely Sennheiser HD58X from their hook into my peanut butter on toast , Now its inside the grill on the inside Knowing I'm late, I've a packed day I leave them to dry in and assuming its going to be a thing to take them apart I just ignore it. Thankfully I got finished my main task very early and I looked into it, here is the relief, thanks to Reddit I discovered its unbelievably easy to remove the grill, its spotless now
  11. I really like this idea, great suggestion
  12. Noted, was not aware of that. There won't be a next time Seeing as you've not killed the thread though I'd be interested in if the topic traffic has increased in the last year, I know it will obviously fluctuate but overall is the average better or event stayed consistent? I honestly don't want a section if its not warranted but then again I'd love to see it all together Also, I believe that I agreed (and if not I meant to and will do so now) it should be handheld in general, not steam deck
  13. So, I think handhelds, over the last year have definitely proven to be much more than a passing trend or fad. Guys, would you be willing to reexamine this request? I honestly feel that the subject of handhelds is not a passing trend or fad and is unique enough to warrant separation. The only question is, is there enough discussion on the forum to warrent a new section? @LogicalDrm @Spotty @SansVarnic If its a no that's fair enough, but lfg is not massively active just as an eg To the mods: Sorry to resurrect a topic but I did not think it was fair to create a new thread as of the mods points may not still be valid. But if you want me to create a new one please just close this thread, pm me to tell me its OK and I'll create a new one
  14. I love the transparency, and we can see what will happen when. OK, some people's opinions will differ but at the end of the day, if the staff decide and agree that it's a 1,2 or 5 severity you should ignore the people screaming unless it's a overwhelming majority. The truth is that this is all a matter of opinion on a lot of the cases. My only issue/question is with severity 4. What are the corrective actions that would be taken? I really want to push for the hard thing to be done, the one that has the negative algorithmic effect. Un-listing a video, hiding it, and moving on should not be an option. Fixing and re-uploading the video is what should be done. I say this for two reasons: If you took the time to research, write, produce and record the video, edit, review and publish it then the topic if something I absolutely want to see. I value you guys, your work and opinion and if it gets that far it's worth watching. Forcing yourself to make this mistake over and over again, to take the hit, will encourage you to make this mistake less, be more vigilant and do better in the future. If there are no consequences then why do better? This is why I'd advocate for the tough, hard route. Lastly, it's been odd not watching any LTT videos these last 9/10 days. Because I've watched so many there is little to nothing in the back catalogue for me to watch. I miss you guys, your videos and humour. Obviously absence does make the heart grow stronger In saying that, take your time, if it takes days, weeks, what ever. Just know we are waiting patiently for your return, take your time, do it right. Ignore any negativity and just come back strong.
  15. Why is it that it is always new members with random posts that don't make sense, are not written with correct syntax, hard to understand, alway always asking open ended/unclear questions making it seem like there is some kind of conspiracy? @darki333 I am not targeting you, you are just the most recent example I've seen. Note to all newbies to the forum coming here because of the controversy. If you want to join in on the conversation, ask a genuine question or give genuine feedback/suggestions/criticism or just generally contribute, please take into account that poorly worded and/or disrespectful comments will be ignored (or potentially worse, but not normally around here). Think about your post, take note that the community here is not huge so new members with a low post count on the heals of something big will simply be dismissed unless they make sense, are thoughtful and respectful. If you are new and I have to read your post a second time to understand it I'm extremely unlikely to comment, if I need to read it a 3rd time I've already moved on. Just an fyi
