3 titans perform about 10% better than 2 690s, so im estimating that 3 780s = 2 690s

Can't assume... need facts. 780 only goes to 3 way and the scaling makes you lose frames for many games. So optimally is 780s vs 2 690s.

Don't get 4 GPUs, it's just a bad idea. On paper, 2 690s will outperform 2 780s, but in real-world, 780s will beat the 690s because I can't think of many games that support 4 GPUs. If you really want power of that magnitude, you should get two 780 Tis.

I totally forgot to mention I meant 780 TI  not the regular 780.

780 ti's is better than 4 gpu's

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

2x780ti's will kill the 2x 690's

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

Does anyone know a site who did a direct comparison? I can't find anything on this. I'd like to see a real life fps comparison, I could care less about theoretical.

Just use simple common sense mate, 780Ti is around £550 roughly, depends on the seller and place of course, 690 Which as you know is a dual GPU card which Nvidia do not like dropping prices on, the cheapest I've seen a 690 is around £700 since they never drop and are in short supply to a certain extent, the 780Ti scaling and pure performance compared to the Dual 690's just isn't really comparable since the scaling on Dual 690's will be absolutely terrible, hell, even some games will suffer from the scaling of 4 cards and hurt performance for said game. Scaling on the 780ti's will be lovely, also factor in the comparable microstutter and sheer power usage of the 690, you'd feel pretty stupid going for the 690's. (Not saying you are, but still)

Cpu: i5-2500k @4.8Ghz, MB: Asus Maximus V Formula, CPU cooler: Be quiet! Dark rock pro 2, GPU: Evga Gtx660 FTW@1.24ghz. Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1866Mhz, PSU: Be quiet! 730w Semi modular, SSD: Corsair force 3 240Gb, HDD: WD Green 1TB, Case: Nzxt H2 with 4 Corsair SP120's, Win7

Rubbish, Quad-SLI is a terrible solution for gaming, scaling drops off after 2 GPUs quite severely, with 3rd and 4th cards not really performing parallel to their cost at all.

The GK110 chips coupled with more/faster VRAM in the 780/TI's vastly outperform GK104 chips on the 690, 2 of those in almost any useful scenario will make a trainwreck of 4 GK104 GPUs with 2GB of VRAM and a slower bus.

For gaming experience I would pick a single 780TI over SLI 690s, that's how much of an objectionable idea Quad-SLI is to me, I've run it before, SLI GTX 295s.

780 2-way sli or two GTX690

Thank you.

SLI 690 is pointless, just add another 680 for triple SLI if you REALLY want more horsepower. But yeah SLI 780 would kill SLI 690, since 4 way SLI never scales well.....

The 690 is relatively old, so a direct comparison is unlikely to be found. You'd be better off trying to find separate benchmarks with similar conditions. 780 ti would be better imo
