How good is this card for casual gaming?

Jeroen1322

Hi guys!

I'm going to buy the SAPPHURE DUAL-xR9 270X 2GB OC with Boost and before i am going to spend my money i want to know

for sure how this card will perform.

Can it run Battlefield 3 / 4 on High or Ultra?

Thanks!

I'd still get a 7950 or a 7970 if it fits in your buget

Yes, on 1920x1080 at high/ultra, with AA turned off. The 270x is a HD 7870 in disguise. It's basically the same card. Research how the Sapphire Dual 7870 performs in BF3 and you'll get your answer.

Intel 4770k@4.6GHz, ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero, Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz CL11, Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming, Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB - RAID0 (2x120Gb), 2xWD 1TB (Blue and Green), Corsair H100i, Corsair AX860, CoolerMaster HAF X, ASUS STRIX Tactic pro, Logitech G400S, HyperX Cloud II, Logitech X530, Acer Predator X34.

I just have a MSI twin Frozr model 6870 and I can play bf3 on 1920x1080 ultra with 8xaa and get around 30ish fps. I would think the 7870 would be a bit better in terms of performance. I think youll be more than fine with the 270x

The AMD Radeon R9 270X should be able to handle BF4 on high, maybe ultra settings with AA turned down and at a 1080p resolution or less.

Yeah, 30FPS on multiplayer isn't really good. Turn the AA off for very smooth gameplay.

I was about to add he could add FXAA through the Nvidia control panel... Boy did I feel stupid.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

bf4 at ultra or high isnt usually considered casual, although the 270x should be able to push 30 frames +

Try stretching your budget for the 7950. It's faster and comes with free games with their Never Settle bundle. It may be a little more expensive, but it's worth the extra GB of VRAM and free games (y). The R9-270X is a good card, but is actually using the same chip as the 7870.

No, don't get the 7950 for that money, the 280x is the same price as a 7950 and it's basically a 7970 undercover :)
