Thermaltake Talon Blu mouse LED's not working

So I bought a new LG monitor, that came in the mail today, for my first PC build I'm gonna do tomorrow or on wednesday. I plugged it in to my laptop just so I could get a feel to it. Immideatly, I noticed that my mouses LED's stopped working, and that there was some screen tearing (Is that what you call it when there are lines on the screen that are distorting the image or text?) going on. Does anyone know whats going on? Or should I have not plugged it in to my laptop.
