GTX 960 vs 970

MrTacticool

Im really wanting to sace money. I was thinking getting a 960 4gb now. And in the future SLI another one. Ive seen the benchmarks and they beat the 970at 1080p. Or spend more and get a 970

better question:

380/x or 390

check for 380x, beast card for it's price

or 380, even this one is better than the 960

well the 960 are limited by 128 bit bus but they don't have the same 3.5gb issue the 970 does.

but go for r9 390 or R9 380X which should be great at 1080p

Great reason to get a worse card for your money.

There are other reasons to get the 970 Instead of the 390, his reason however, not the best :P

If we are strictly talking about the two and excluding any AMD options... I think you're better off with a 970 for 1080p. But it also depends on the games you are planning to play. Also, are you planning to go above 1080p in the future? Because if that's the case then the 960 is completely out of the question, since even in a 2-way SLI mode it will struggle. The 970 SLI would do a lot better if you ever decided to move onto 1440p or 4k for example. Personally I love the windforce series, I do own a G1 970 so I may sound biased, but I'm really not (this is my first Nvidia card btw). Also personally I would just advise against SLI, I know it can perform and look great, but sometimes the hassle of getting everything to work on it is too much. So my personal, honest advise would be: Get the 970, and if in the future you need more punch, sell it and get a single more powerful card (e.g 980 or a Fury equivalent of this lineup). In the end though, whatever floats your boat dude!
