Upgrade a10 to i3 Skylake, worth it ? (HELP)

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

in terms of IPC

yes upgrading from the A10-5800K which is based on the Trinity series APU to Skylake is a upgrade

but it given that more games need a quad core

you will still be limited to normal games

games like Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 will be out of the question.

I have plan for this december 2015, i want a little upgrade for my PC, a gift for my self :-) .

From a10-5800k is it worth to upgrade for Core i3-6100 Skylake ?

my spec:
-a10-5800k CPU/APU
-2x4gb 1600 CL9 avexir core series RAM
-R9-270x Vapor-X GPU
-520w SEASONIC M12II PSU

Skylake Plan(the only available and i can afford in my CITY)
-CORE i3-6100 3.7Ghz 6TH GEN SKYLAKE
-CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX BLACK DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C14
8GB(2x4GB)
-MSI B150M PRO-VDH 6TH GEN

"Im preparing also to have ddr4 for AMD ZEN, im a solid AMD fan but AMD fail me so i need to switch to intel for a real CPU"

I cant afford i5

You're right.

Haswell = i3 4130/40/50, i5 4570/4670/4670K, i7 4770R/S/T/K

Haswell refresh = i3 4160/70, i5 4430/4460/4590/4690/K, i7 4790/K

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

I would suggest going with an older CPU. Yes, Skylake has DDR4 support but you will be much better in buying a better CPU than keeping the DDR4 memory. An i5 will help you much more than an i3

ah i see. well no, i dont recommend it until you can afford an i5. the a10 you have isnt that bad tbh. At least paired with that gpu. not that much of a bottleneck
