Is this a good build and is this future proofed?

-Cheeky-

It's a decent build for gaming, but you can't future proof builds

The things I changed:

Ram: Go with one 8GB stick on a motherboard with only 2 DIMM Slots, It gives you room to add another 8GB later on down the track.

PSU: I Buffed your PSU to 850 Watts for one main reason... So you can slap another GPU in without having to upgrade that PSU.. 850 Watts its the mark you want to be at with a X2 GPU set up.

Case: The case you have chosen can not support graphics cards that large without having to remove the drive cages, So I chose you a new one :) This will hold all your gear no problem.

As far as "future-proofing" a RIG there is no such thing, However adding reliable upgrade paths is a different matter.

My new Gaming PC.

Definitely not "future proof". But is looks to be a decent and balanced system.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Definitely, but if you want to game at a higher frame rate go with a gtx 970 or r9 390. A case with better airflow is also not a bad idea.

Yes a GTX 970 or a R9 390 will bring him a lot better performance in latest and upcoming AAA games (I myself have a gtx 970 and I love it^^) ... BUT .. if he doesnt really have a big problem with lowering settings, or not playing every game at 60 fps... the build will be be great! Its still a very powerful build, it will last him a few years of gaming for sure!

Also BTW... I would also suggest him to get a better motherboard... its better for the future, if he wants to upgrade his hardware! Cuz buying a new motherboard means rebuilding your pc haha
