FX 6300 vs i3 4130 @ 1600MHz RAM

This is interesting - in Witcher 3 the FX was doing better than the i3 - I'd say it's worth a watch

Slightly off topic: holy balls the 6100 utterly smoked the other 2, especially at the higher frequency.

interesting none the less. but i guess the lack of an upgrade path from the FX still applies.

I usually find people who buy an i3 don't really go to an i5 at all so the FX 6300 maybe makes more sense for people who don't wnat to upgrade at a lower price point. Modern games use 6 cores pretty well apparently

Now imagine if they did the test with a better board and overclocked the RAM for the FX to make it a touch more fair...

As much as people like to crap on AMD, the reality is that for 3 year old technology, it isn't bad and still holds up well. If it was truly crap, it wouldn't be on the market people ;)

970 krait will oc the 6300 to 4.5 with oc genie on its own. Bored of comparison tests because most of the time they're not fair. Overclocking the CPU, HT, NB and RAM for the FX would make it a viable option but people look at half arsed tests and throw it out the window.

Krait barely breaks the bank and you dont need an over the top one due to low TDP of the 6300 also I knew you'd be here as soon as someone said those 3 letters...

Also incorrect

Krait board £70.76

6300 £81.16

Quick google, probs find them cheaper.

What the fuck are you talking about. i3 6100 is faster IN EVERY game in that benchmark. Especially if you look at minimum framerates. It doesn't dip, which is massive for any person who plays any game at all.

yeaaaah, massive difference, especially when you start lying about ddr3 prices. cheapest ddr3 2x4 kit is 35, this is 40. AND ITS FASTER.

actually no, 4460 alone is $164

yes it's better if you can spend more, but in that price range when comparing i3 6100 to fx6300, 6100 wins 10 times out of 10.
