Usb issue

Tweakforce_LG

I have a probook 4530s and every usb device other than my flash drive works fine with it. But a few months ago my flash drive wouldnt work, it would show, but show space as okb and say no media in disk managment. When i then plug it into my older 2007 probook 6730b, it shows and works fine.

Hey there Tweakforce_LG,

Is the thumb drive recognized in BIOS, Device Manager or Disk Management? I'd also suggest to try to update the drivers of your laptop and see if there are any OS updates or BIOS updates that you can install. That would be the most logical thing since the drive works on all other computers. Do check if the drive functions correctly, just to be on the safe side.

Hello there Captain_WD,

It allows me to install a Linux os to the problematic usb, so it seems to be a problem with my install of windows. The usb does work normally in other computers. In disk management it shows as no media

I would try to back up everything from the boot partition and reinstall the OS. Check for any updates before that. Also make sure the USB ports are actually working on the PC.

Hm, sounds like an I/O fault due to outdated chipset drivers.

Check the manufacturer's site for the chipset drivers and install those
