Overnight Sensation build log... the best PC speakers you can buy...

jcparks1980

With all of the PC building done I thought I would post a build log for the speakers that I built to go with my PC.  This is a kit that you can buy and build yourself with little to no experience and the sound quality is phenomenal...

here is a link

http://www.parts-express.com/overnight-sensations-mt-speaker-kit-pair--300-706

and here is a link to a pictures throughout my build... I would like to try to convince Linus to do a video on these.

Congrats! That's a nice way to start a hobby. :)

Your second link looks truncated and does not work for me.

I hope they get into more audio stuff. It's perfect since Linus just got a new AV Receiver courtesy of LG (to match his new OLED UHD TV). He can discuss home entertainment / surround sound and maybe build DIY bookshelf speakers to compare with his KEF satellite set. Maybe Luke or Taran can go into HiFi and Pro Audio (wishful thinking).

Madisound has great speaker kits too. This tickles my fancy:

Or they can go point-source:

Linus doesn't listen to good enough music to be able to appreciate HiFi properly. Plus we yelled at him a lot about audio in the past so I think he tries to avoid it.

And whenever he recommends something everyone rushes to get it. Like the hd8 DJ fiasco.

Luke listens to a very wide selection of music.

I am sure the LTT team had learned quite a bit over the years of exposure to the likes of Sennheiser. It may be true that Linus is staying away from audio, however.

I think they are staying away. LTT is one of those teams that likes to avoid conflict or controversy of any kind, and for that reason I think they avoid serious audio discussion.

Compare to Tek Syndicate and their "soundcards are bs" video. LTT would never do something like that.

I agree. They can go ahead and cover the basics though, as it is a largely misunderstood topic (though honestly, display quality and calibration are largely ignored by most users too).

-Stagea regarding your link for madisound... I have been strongly considering the Loki 2 kit for a while, that is a ways off though as I have a really decent home theater already and plenty of other ares in the house that need upgrading.

Thanks for the replies guys :)

Will do more posts later about my PC and other such..

Nice. I would love to make my own speakers! How is the bass on these things?

I personally have these paired with a custom built Sub Woofer (another project I did), and have the sub woofer crossed over at about 100hz, however as you can see in this graph the frequency response from the speakers reaches pretty low for a 4" driver.  You will also notice how flat the frequency response is through the entire spectrum.

Put simply... they will play low audible bass, but don't expect them to rattle your desk.
