My Mouse Dilema

Char_Biggu

I have a Razer Abyssus 2014 and Razer Goliathus speed edition right now and I've been thinking about upgrading because my birthday recently passed and I got some birthday money.

Let's say my budget is around $90 (3000฿).

I've been looking at Razer Mamba tournament edition, Logitech g502, and Roccat Tyon.

I mainly play CS:GO but I want the mouse to have some utility for other games and work.

Pros and Cons of each

Razer Mamba tournament edition

  • [PRO] RGB lighting to fit my setup
  • [PRO] Good quality
  • [PRO] Good ergonomics
  • [PRO] Synapse looks way better than all the other softwares
  • [CON] Laser sensor
  • [CON] Not much utility (only two extra buttons)
  • [CON] They release a new mouse every year making my mouse outdated

Logitech g502

  • [PRO] Good quality (People say logitech is reliable and good)
  • [PRO] Good utility (many buttons + free scroll)
  • [PRO] Optical sensor
  • [PRO] Has some cool extras (weight tuning)
  • [CON] Only blue
  • [CON] Their software doesn't look as good
  • [CON] I would be really mad if they release an RGB version next year

Roccat Tyon (I'm kinda new to roccat)

  • [PRO] Good utility (in my opinion, more features than g502)
  • [PRO] Looks cool
  • [PRO] Good quality (idk if roccat is reliable)
  • [PRO?] Roccat is a new brand for me and I wouldn't really care if they released a new mouse
  • [PRO] RGB
  • [CON] Laser sensor
  • [CON] Software doesn't look as good as synapse

I have a Lenovo y50 and I have a red setup and I would much appreciate it if the color of the mouse fits my setup.  I use this website to pick the colors that will fit my setup.

Yes, I am Thai and I apologize for my English since it is not my first language. I am open for any other mice recommendation but please refer to this website to see if they have that mouse because I don't do online shopping (shipping prices are quite expensive) and that's where I get my gaming gear.

Logitech G502 is supposed to be a very good mouse, I'd choose that one. You really shouldn't be choosing a mouse based on aesthetics.

My second pick would be that Tyon however.

Project White Lightning (My ITX Gaming PC): Core i5-4690K | CRYORIG H5 Ultimate | ASUS Maximus VII Impact | HyperX Savage 2x8GB DDR3 | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | WD Black 1TB | Sapphire RX 480 8GB NITRO+ OC | Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX | Corsair AX760 | LG 29UM67 | CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate | Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum | HyperX Cloud II | Logitech Z333

Benchmark Results: 3DMark Firestrike: 10,528 | SteamVR VR Ready (avg. quality 7.1) | VRMark 7,004 (VR Ready)

Other systems I've built:

Core i3-6100 | CM Hyper 212 EVO | MSI H110M ECO | Corsair Vengeance LPX 1x8GB DDR4  | ADATA SP550 120GB | Seagate 500GB | EVGA ACX 2.0 GTX 1050 Ti | Fractal Design Core 1500 | Corsair CX450M

Core i5-4590 | Intel Stock Cooler | Gigabyte GA-H97N-WIFI | HyperX Savage 2x4GB DDR3 | Seagate 500GB | Intel Integrated HD Graphics | Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 | be quiet! Pure Power L8 350W

I am not a professional. I am not an expert. I am just a smartass. Don't try and blame me if you break something when acting upon my advice.

Turn off the leds then. Full black fits in any setup.

I considered it but then it doesn't have as many features as Logitech g502 or Roccat Tyon also the mamba is more new and fancy.

if you choose a mouse based on its color and look.

you are doing this wrong

+ If you're judging the mouse based on the 'look" of the software, you're again, doing something wrong. Almost everyone sets-and-forgets the mouse software. It's functional; but not pretty, sure. Synapse doesn't really look any better. Also... your mouse software shouldn't force you to sign up on its site...

Turn off the leds then. Full black fits in any setup.

This. Buy the mouse you need and turn off the leds.

It's the little things that matter to me but I guess you're right.

But why?

a lot of people hate on razer just because everyone else is doing it, it seems a trend with most of the time there being no actual solid reason why they dislike. razer do make some good products, the blackwidow keyboards are decent and the death adder is widely regarded as one of the best gaming mice around

But why?

Razer's known for having QC issues. They either live a few months, or years, very little in between from what I've seen.

uwotm8? 75% of the people who don't like Razer are because of the poor QC. The other 25% are bandwagon.

So will Logitech. Not exactly a selling point if you're comparing the two. SteelSeries support was also pretty good to me when I used their headphones.

Good support doesn't make up for poor quality.

I understand the bandwagon but not the qc because from my society, Razer is considered the brand with the best quality (like apple) but I probably don't see it because they release a new mouse every year and people always buy them.

Plenty of users on the forums have. I've never owned a Razer product, so I don't have personal input. But almost everything I see on the forums is "my Razer product stopped working", so on and so forth.

I'm sure you could search around this subforum and find plenty. :P

you can find that on any product, people only go to support forums when a product isnt working they dont tend to go through forums to praise their new product :S

Right, but we're not here in this subforum for troubleshooting. You'd find the problems over in the troubleshooting subforum. Recommendations and otherwise in this one. ;)
