The virtual reality revolution is going strong, and there ain't no breaks on the Oculus hype train. Today during the Oculus Connect 2 event, Oculus announced that multiple video streaming services will be making their way to GearVR. Among these video streaming services includes Netflix, Hulu, Twitch, Vimeo, and others. I'm not sure when the VR apps will be available, although Netflix's VR app is available right now, with Hulu's app is coming sometime this fall. If you have a GearVR, try it out and let us know how you like it! Hulu plans to provide both 2D content and VR content through their VR app, and has partnered with RocketJump and Lionsgate to create a VR short film called The Big One.

I have mixed feelings about video streaming services coming to VR devices, but it is ultimately a good thing. Personally a movie or TV show is best experienced on a TV, and in most cases with friends. However you won't be able to enjoy those (hopefully soon to be created) VR films, which will be absolutely awesome to experience and will breathe fresh life into the movie watching experience.

GearVR is different than the Rift. Wish they would have made that clearer in the release so people wouldn't care.

Tried the Netflix App on my Gear VR and it's fantastic.  Not sure if it was rolled into the base video player, but the Netflix video player is fantastic, with support for Void Theater and a fairly intuitive UI for pretty much anything you'd need to do on Netflix (subtitles/video scaling/rewind/etc).  I wouldn't want to enter in any text with just the Gear VR and think I may need a controller, but overall it's very exciting in what was mostly a boring year for Gear VR apps.
