[100th post!][Guide] How to get Windows media center back in Windows 10

Hi guys! This is my 100th post (yay! :) ) and for it I decided to do a guide, this worked for me and I didn't need to install any codecs but if you do there are links to tested ones in the readme file.

 

Step 1: Download the Windows media center .RAR file here

 

Step 2: Extract it to any folder on your MAIN boot drive with 7-zip or Winrar

 

Step 3: Right click and open _TestRights.cmd as administrator and keep the windows open (I had issues with the installer if I closed it)

 

Step 4: Right click and open Installer.cmd as administrator and wait for the process to complete.

 

Step 5: WMC will now be in the "All apps" directory in the start menu under "Windows accessories"

 

Notes: 

-This may have compatibility problems on 32-bit machines

Since you have an FX 4300, Is it good? And Should I get it and upgrade to a 6300 or whatever the 8-core is called later? Is it good for gaming? Or should I get a g3258.

the G3258 gives you more headroom to upgrade.

 

It's been running just fine for my needs and I don't see any noticeable bottlenecks. It's just a temp CPU for me, since I'm planning on going 8 core next year (I will be doing some heavy rendering on this PC so I'll need the cores).

 

For a budget, temp CPU, it's fine. Wouldn't recommend going the FX way if you can afford buying Intel.

 

One of the reasons I've built an AMD rig is that some of the applications I use for work and that I develop require physical cores (for some reasons they don't like hyperthreaded ones) and I absolutely needed an AMD CPU for uni reasons (which I won't get into)
