Cannot get drivers for my network card

Hi.  I just finished building my new PC, and i'm trying to get onto the internet.  I'm on Windows 8.1, and it says there are no connections available.  I troubleshooted it with Windows, and it said "Windows could not find a driver for your network adapter.  Now, this would be all well and good, except I need the internet to download the driver...  I'm not really sure what to do.  I tried plugging my Ethernet cable into my motherboard, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

You need drivers to use ethernet...

If you have a cd drive, stick the CD that came with the mobo in and install the networking drivers, then go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and download the rest of the drivers and a possibly updated driver for networking and install all of those.

Then you can go ahead and find the driver for your network card online.

Otherwise, get a flash drive, go to another computer somewhere, download drivers, move to the flash drive, take em home and install em on your pc.
