Which Noctua 140mm Fan to get?

Guest
Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

ULN and FLX just have different ranges for rpm. PWM has a larger range and better if available.

The NF-A14 has a good balance of airflow and static pressure. It along with the Silent Wings 2 are among the best of the best. You can't really go wrong with either.

The NF-A14 and NF-A15 are essientially the same fan with different frames.

Well, I've been looking at 140mm fans, and I'm confused. I want one that is good for airflow as it would be one that vents air out of a case. So which one; I know the NF-A15 is for CPU coolers. Looking at it, it seems the NF-A14 is the only others one. If that is designed for airflow then which one to get? There is an "ULN" version (which I have no idea what that is) and then there is one without it.

pls help

You don't really need the ultra low noise adapter when the fan is pwm imo, and since the fan is blowing out of the case, hence doesn't need to be good at directional airflow, I'd suggest a be quiet fan because it is quieter at higher rpm.

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

PWN is better compared to ULN and FLX ?

It should be but not always. PWM can introduce a quiet tick but Noctua has seemed to gotten past that with a more 'gradual' pulse.
