Reinstalling windows 7 with no disc

dalomo

Hello all,

Recently a laptop was given to me to sell. it's a dell Inspiron running windows 7 home premium. Now the previous owner did not have the installation disc, probably since it didn't come with one from the store. But the laptop has the product key on the sticker on the bottom. My question is, is there a way i can easily reinstall windows? The previous owner didn't create a restore point when they first got the laptop, and Dell doesn't give you the option under system restore to reinstall without an install disc. Thanks in advance for your help.

Make a bootable USB drive.

Ahh, fantastic. I was told this only worked for "shrink wrapped" retail versions of windows so I didn't even bother. Thanks!

Do you have a link to download the contents of the boot dvd though? as i said i don't have one for windows 7.

Rufus will let you make a bootable flash drive, and copy the windows files onto it from a windows ISO file.

Which you can download, and use as you have a key/license. (Other peeps - Right?)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

There seems to be a issue with that site with some keys. It decides that English keys are not really English keys but some other language which makes it impossible to get the ISO legally.

Microsoft seems very uninterested in fixing it.
