R9 fury x estimated performance from wccftech

I know this is all hypertethical and should be taken with a pinch of salt, but estimations can also be correct!

However if you’re anxious and can’t wait until the 24th don’t worry. One can very easily estimate the performance of Fury X in a number of in-game benchmarks using a series of simple mathematical formulas.

It’s a very straight forward process. We look at the core count and the clock speed of Fiji and extrapolate its potential performance from those two data points. All structures inside the GPU will scale with the core count, so they’re accounted for. The huge increase in memory bandwidth brought by HBM will definitely have a positive impact on performance. However it will vary based on the workload and the resolution, and thus we’ll have to leave it out for now

The results will be based on TPU’s latest GTX 980 Ti review, click on the drop-down menu below for the math and performance graphs

the math is explained further down but regardless even of its slightly out for the cost and performance I think amd are I to a winner.. I cancelled my 980ti order now as I'm waiting to see!

priced quoted is $549 for air cooler and $649 for liquid, so it's $350 to $450 cheaper than a titan! same. price as a 980ti!

cost of living in Australia is high, but also the wages are some of the highest around so it's pro rata I guess.

my friend moved to Australia and earns almost double what he did in the UK doing a very similar job.

while I still agree aussies get screwed with taxes it's not exactly changeable.. unless they move abroad.. its like me moaning about the UK 20% Vat.. moaning won't change it!

I agree, everyone's quick to slam them when they're wrong but never stand up and admit when they're right.

they just report on all rumours, rumours wouldn't be a rumor if they were factual lol.

and yes these numbers are theoretical. but you can make an educated assumption based on other cards and their performance based on spec.

amd only have shown 1 games performance and it already piddles over the titan x and r9 295x2

He is being skeptical because they are estimations, which means they haven't actually done any tests but are instead just guessing what performance will be like. These numbers are assuming linear scaling with clock speed and core count, and are completely ignoring HBM. They should not be taken as facts.

However, i was replying in general about wccftech being "always wrong" when it's clearly not the fact

To be honest this is more of a proof of concept than something that will gain them significant ground. Don't get me wrong I love the new Fury cards and everything they might stand for but This card is only going to be bought by maybe the top 5% of gamers. And thats assuming they didnt already buy 980s, Tis , and Titans or can return them. Yes it might beat a Titan but honestly its a card out reach for most people. 

 

The most important card they launched is probably the Nano. This was to show how well this new tech can be scaled which means we can hope to see it in the future on cheaper cards. Think of the power and price of 280x (maybe cheaper) but running at 70watts. Some people might think thats no big deal but for some thats a huge difference in heat output. For some thats saving money on a bigger power supply. For some thats a quieter system that does everything they want it to. And for some its about an ideal place to be if they dont want to spend the money on a really nice monitor. And yes a 270x isnt anything to really write home about but its a decent 1080p card and with as many of the populous that has 1080p monitors with 60hz refresh is that really such a bad thing to hope? Id buy a fuji based card that competes with a GTX 960. I am in that demographic and it is likely that the largest chunk of gamers are too. (For now)
