Case Mod Question

nasyesta36

Is it possible to Mod a Dell Inspiron 530 case to improve better airflow?  If so what tools would be useful to use to make it happen.

Thank You

Thank You I was hoping for a second opinion because I have been eyeing some other cases that would work to give me better airflow for what's inside that dell and don't get me wrong if I had an SSD drive it can run pretty damn good.  I have been testing windows 10 on it and I am impressed how this old hardware actually does amazing well with the new OS especially with the nvidia graphics card as well.

@nasyesta36 For that case you could cut the bottom and install an extra 120mm fan as an intake to provide more airflow. To cut it you can use something like a jigsaw or Dremel/royalty tool to cut the opening. I would also be sure there is enough clearance between the floor and bottom of the case for air to get in or add some thicker feet.

No not enough clearance to install a bottom 120 mm fan even if I get did thicker front feet.  I am wondering if I should get a rear fan that can pull more air out and see if that could do the trick.  If not I can just buy a new case and I know what to get that can improve the airflow as well and would work better better for the hardware.

It will help a bit bit it's a 92mm fan so it may be a bit loud if you get ones that are high peforamnce. I'm not sure how much room you have in the front but there are slots on the side of the front panel maybe you can install a fan there to help bring in fresh air while also exhausting.

If I can get rid of the Big 3.5 drive and replace it with an SSD drive I could use either 92mm or 80mm fan for the front to draw air into the case I will definitely look into that thanks and also I am looking at getting a full modular power supply to cut down on cables so that will also improve the airflow as well.
