what is anti aliasing/aliasing?

not sure if i spelled it right but i hear people talk about it in videos and i have no idea what it is

Aliasing is where you start to distinguish individual pixels on the edge of 3D objects. Anti-aliasing is the attempt to remove that. There are different forms of anti-aliasing(AA) such as FXAA(Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing), MSAA(Multi-Sampling Anti-Aliasing), and SSAA(Super-Sampling Anti-Aliasing).
