Star Trek v Star Wars Conundrum

Star Trek v Star Wars Conundrum.

Who would win in a Phaser/Laser battle?

Star Trek Red Shirts

or

Star Wars Stormtroopers.

Reasoning for question:

Star Trek Red Shirts always die.

Star Wars Stormtroopers can't hit the broadside of a barn.

Discuss.

How would Red Shirts die if Stormtroopers never hit?

Indeed but the rule of red shirts that they would die ... this is why its a conundrum

Going with red shirts. There will be a single red shirt survivor that will then be promoted for being some hero or something. Red shirts don't always die just like storm troopers don't always miss, it would just be a long hilarious stupid battle.

Its only coincidence that my avatar has a red shirt.

Clearly, the stormtroopers' wild inaccuracy would cause them to accidentally hit some sort of ceiling fixture, knocking it down and killing all the redshirts. Conundrum solved!

For me they're about as apples and oranges as you can get without one being in a completely unrelated genre (as far as Modern Science Fiction's concerned?).

Star Wars: "Space Opera".

Star Trek: Speculative fiction?

Both under the extremely wide umbrella of science-fiction (which also encompasses stuff like Robert Luis Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, ABC's Lost etc.?).
