Looking for a tablet that supports ethernet and HDMI.

johnnyTheMac

Hello,

I am in search of a tablet that supports Ethernet, HDMI and charging at the same time. The one that comes up most often is the Nvidia Shield Tablet. Is this the only one on the market that has these options, you can you all help me out and provide any contenders? I will be using it for game streaming, Netflix, on device movie watching and, of course, occasional web surfing. I am also looking at the Sony Xperia 2 Tablet, but I don't think that it has Ethernet support, let alone all of the options that I mentioned.

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Can I ask what you are planning on using the HDMI and ethernet for? any windows tablet that had a usb port and a charging port could use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G5OAT88/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used that on my dell venue 8 pro along with a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J5S2TS4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1to allow charging with the single OTG port the device had.

With those 2 items I was able to use steam in home streaming at 720P with no issue.

System CPU : Ryzen 9 5950 doing whatever PBO lets it. Motherboard : Asus B550 Wifi II RAM 80GB 3600 CL 18 2x 32GB 2x 8GB GPUs Vega 56 & Tesla M40 Corsair 4000D Storage: many and varied small (512GB-1TB) SSD + 5TB WD Green PSU 1000W EVGA GOLD

You can trust me, I'm from the Internet.

Or even better, an OTG USB/Ethernet adaptor. I've seen a few around.

I'd go with an Ethernet adaptor and an Nvidia SHIELD tablet, personally.

Sig under construction.

Stick with the shield if you want to do game streaming + shields a pretty bad ass tablet anyway with the K1 chip you can't go wrong.

Thank you all for your responses!

I am sorry. I should have specified a few things. I am not necessarily looking for a tablet with an Ethernet port, just the ability to use one, along with an HDMI cord when I need to. Say, for example, I am feeling lazy and I want play my PC games from the comfort of my bed. I would like to be able to hook up my tablet to my Ethernet connection (home is hardwired everywhere) and hook it up to my TV via HDMI. Or, if I am in the living room and don't want to go in the office, do the same as I mentioned above.

I know a tablet is about portability, and I will be using it wirelessly for movies, surfing and such. I just want to have the support of the things I mentioned.

Thanks!

How is the display in the Shield? I played around with the Xperia 2 Tablet is it has a really nice display. Colors are vivid, clear and really pop.

Sorry, but you will find it extremely difficult to find a tablet that happens to have a full Ethernet port, which is why you use OTG adapters like this:

The display on the SHIELD Tablet is pretty good. Here's Linus's review of it:

Thank you for your reply.

I am not really looking for one with a full port, just one that supports it, HDMI and charging via OTG cables/adapter.
