No it won`t. What monitor do you have? every 144Hz monitor I have seen supports DP. Just buy a standard DP to Mini-DP cable should work. I use this one for my 144Hz monitor: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Mini-DisplayPort-Adapter-Cable/dp/B002XVYZ82/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1427629952&sr=1-5&keywords=displayport+to+mini+displayport Just use this to connect the monitor to your Laptop.

why wouldn't it work, it's a dual link dvi adapter, dual link dvi is capable of 1080p 144hz so based of specs it would work fine

I have a laptop with a Mini DP and a 144hz monitor. I was just wondering if this adapter would support the 144hz since the last adapter I've bought didn't support 144hz. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0030XMREG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3DLSOMBHIRGIA&coliid=I3S0CCAW1PLAQT&psc=1

Yeahhh, my monitor only has a DVI, HDMI 1.4, and a useless VGA port, so technically it isn't possible, otherwise I would've just bought myself a Mini DP to DP cord right from the beginning.

I know that. I just don`t get it, why buying a Dual Link DVI Adapter for a monitor that should support DP native.

I have a laptop (MSI Dominator GT70) that doesn't have a DVI port, but a Mini DP port. The monitor that I got, the Asus VG278HE, only has VGA, DVI, and HDMI. So at this point, I had to buy a mini DP to a Dual Link DVI adapter in order for me to utilize 144hz on my monitor. Honestly, I'm kinda on the same track as you, why wouldn't Asus make a monitor that should support DP? Anyways, I bought the adapter and it worked!
