Underclock GPU on 144hz Monitor!

This guide works for Intel Integrated, Nvidia and AMD graphics

 

Hello Everyone!

 

I have seen people who say that their GPU does not downclock. They are told to RMA their card, or install/uninstall drivers. For most of them, nothing seems to work, they get really frustrated.

And those "most of them" are using 144hz monitors.

 

Well then, if you have that problem and have a 144hz monitor, this guide will fix it!

 

Software Needed -

 

1. MSI Afterburner

2. GPU-Z

 

Optional Step

 

Make sure that you actually are on 144hz. If not, this guide only might work for you. 

To see if you actually are there follow these steps - 

1. Right click on your desktop

2. Click screen resolution

3. Click Advanced settings (Should be in blue)

4. Click Monitor on the tabs

5. It should say what Hertz it is there.

 

STEP 1: Setting the hertz

 

Follow these steps

 

1. Right click on your desktop

2. Click screen resolution

3. Click Advanced settings (Should be in blue)

4. Click Monitor on the tabs

5. Click the 144hz, there should be a scrolldown.

6. Click 120hz 

7. Press Apply

 

STEP 2: Testing

 

1. Open MSI Afterburner

2. Find the graphs

3. Open GPU-z

4. Find "Bus Interface" 

5. Next to the PCIE Info there should be a question mark

6. Click it

7. A window should open called "Render Test"

8. Uncheck Render in full-screen

9. Press Start Render test

10. Keep it running for the next step.

 

STEP 3: Did it work?

 

1. Record the graphs, the clock should be higher now or the mem should be or both.

2. Have fun!

 

STEP 4: Failure? (Only if it still dosent Underclock)

 

1. Hmm, repeat all steps and set it to 100hz instead of 120hz
