Help:( case modding

post-192748-0-49439200-1425461833_thumb. So, I hate this case, kind of. It was cheap and I kinda liked it so I thought fuck it. Got rid of my corsair 300R. (Regret) Anyhow I would like to know how I should go about making a majority of this panel transparent, kinda like it is just more. I have a moderate amount of tools. Some skills. But for the most part have no idea where to start. Could someone guide me through it?

Guiding someone on a random case mod project can be pretty difficult unless the guide has already modded that exact case, and especially so over the internet. It is important that you have at least some semblance of an idea for where you want the mod to go before you even start prepping for your first cut. That being said...

- The best way you can start getting help is to post some good quality photos of the case: front, both sides, top, interior... This will let people know what you're working with.

- Do you already know what you want to accomplish in total? Are you only wanting to mod that one side pannel and nothing else?

Cut it out then? Then just put whatever in it that is the same shape/size and there you go!

That looks very doable, I'd suggest to you to use a dremel or rotary tool with a rienforced abrasive cutting disc. Be sure to mask over everything to prevent scratches or damage and draw the lines onto the masking tape itself. When cutting be sure to cut away from the line and afterwards using a metal file, file towards it to get a nice straight line. That will leave you with a bare metal edge so some touching up will be needed on the end to blend in.

As for window material plexi or glass works very well most can be found in most hardware stores or signage/window shops.

If you want to learn some about modding cases, check out MNPCTech on his website and YouTube.

He built his business my modding cases for people and companies. Go through his videos on his channel and I'm sure that you will learn a lot like I did. If you scroll to the bottom of his company's website, they have a list of blog posts/videos that provide basic tutorials and hints for doing stuff like a side panel window mod. I'll do some digging around in a little bit and get back to you, but I think he may have actually modded that case a while ago.

Other than that, your idea looks pretty sound, I would just do all of your measurements from the inner side of the panel so that you know for sure you have enough to run your adhesive to attach the window. For marking out and making your cuts, cover the panel in 3M Scotch 233+ masking tape. Then use U-channel to cover the raw edges if you're not going to file/sand them smooth and paint them. Finally, for mounting the window panel I would recommend 3M 4010 tape.

Dremel with a metal wheel works pretty good if you have a steady hand

The profile seems alright. I would use a jigsaw or a small saw with an abrasive cutting wheel. For the clear plastic, i would suggest lexan as its holds up much much better than plexiglass.
