Storage Issues

iHammmy

Hello,

I am currently going through my HDD and deleting everything I don't need.

When I go into my documents, I have loads of game folders such as "2K Games" and "Arma 2 OA" ect.

Is there anyway I can stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance,

- Harry

It seems impossible until it's done.

Those are probably save files, most games save as well as put .ini files there by default and i haven't found a way to move them myself so i don't know if you can.

I assume you installed the games via steam? If so you go into steam and select the game, and delete it, if the files still remain, then you should then be able to fully delete them. Hope this helps!

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

Yep they generally contain game saves, settings and other bits, they shouldn't contain a lot of data unless you load in mods and bits. This is just a byproduct of playing games there's no way to stop it as it's how the games are programmed. (Unless you've uninstalled the games and don't plan on installing them again)

But I want to keep the games installed but not have the files in that location :(

Unfortunately you can't do that, without redirecting those folders, which is a lot of hastle. You could look up mkdir online, but you can mess things up with it if not used correctly.

How much space do those folders take up?

I'm not bothered about the amount of storage they need, I'm just bothered about where the game puts them :(

Well, you could see online about those individual games, if the have some settings you could change to change the folder they use to store things but most games wouldn't include that by default, and you are likely to run into this issue with each game you install.

Unless someone knows something I don't.
