Gaming/Video editing rig

This thread is actually for a friend of mine.

An old friend of mine from several years ago was wanting a new pc, and I offered to build one for him, and he is really interested in that, and I was hoping some people here could help me come up with a good rig for him.

He's into gaming as well as making youtube let's play videos, and does some editing; he's also a musician as well.

He never really specified how much the budget would be, i showed him some references, such as a budget build that's less than $800, and a high end reference that was less than $1500 and he said he liked the high end one, so I guess $1500 would be the budget.

I was thinking for GPU a gtx 970 would be sufficient, and as for cpu perhaps an i7 since he would be gaming and doing video editing, preferably one that uses lga1150 mobos since those have a higher upgrade plan. as for ram, 16gb would probably be best for editing, compared to just 8gb.

as for peripherals he already has that taken care of

looking pretty good. as for the OS, can probably save on that cause I'd help set him up with either win7 ultimate or win10 (depends if i help his build before or after win10 is released)

as for the gpu, i like how it fits into the budget, and can easily be switched to a 970 if needed to make the price more appealing if needed.

Windows 10 tech preview would probs be fine, it's pretty stable.

I really want to upgrade to win10 once it comes out. I really like win7, but for the past few months it's been very laggy on my pc, and freezes up every now and then. (I know it's not any of my hardwares fault)

Weird, it's been stable on my rig...

Designed to be on the quiet side. A Xeon means no overclocking but basic i7 performance. Should be enough for the intended use. If more was to be spent on the system I would put it into a bigger ssd and/or more memory.

Weird, it's been stable on my rig...

I think it might be a firefox issue, I read online that it's been freezing up and lagging for a lot of people. Problem is there's nothing else I like to use. I hate google so i dont use chrome, and IE is a fail, and I never tried any of the others
