Logitech g910 Orion Spark Review

Background

I've used the g710+ for 3 years.  I am used to and love cherry mx brown switches and a little bias to logitech.

The keys -

EXCLUSIVE ROMER-G MECHANICAL SWITCHES

These are nothing like cherry mx red/brown/blues.  They are very quiet with little to no resistance.  http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/articles/romer-g

I was most nervous when ordering the keyboard I would not like the feel.  Well, after 2 weeks I am becoming a fan.  As a MOBA/FPS player I am starting to get used to the different "feel/design" of each key.

The "rubber" feel people talk about doesn't bother me.  I have played with sweaty fingers (eww?) and don't notice any of the typical build up of oil, dirt, and other common things that plague hardcore gamers.

Something to note: The "T" key already has a small tear where I can see the light come through.  Going to send back to logitech for a new keyboard.

If you want the the feel/noise of cherry mx red/browns this keyboard is not for you.

The software:

Standard logitech macro software.  Easy to use, simple to make macros.

New with this keyboard is the Arx Control for iPhone's and Androids.

This has a lot of potential.  For now it's great.  You can make a separate profile and set up al your G-keys to multimedia, turn off computer, or whatever you would like to do remotely.  Watch T.V. on the couch with your multimedia keys on your phone, anyone?  You can also pull up some basic specs of your cpu/gpu like temperature.

Arm rest

I was disappointed when I found I could not remove the armrest without voiding the warranty to make it the size of a standard keyboard.  To my surprise the second arm rest is phenomenal.  It allows my hand to sit comfortably over wasd/qwer/1234/zxc/etc.. I love it.

RGB

Easiestly the flashiest keyboard out.   Customize colors however you want, anyway you want, endless possibilities.  Only light up the keys used for a certain profile, waves, customize each key, blocks of keys, etc...

Conclusion:

At 180$ price tag this keyboard has a lot of potential.  I feel it was pushed for release a little early for black friday/holidays.. There is a lot more this keyboard is capable of and can do.  The Arx software is in what I'd call beta stage.  So much more can be done with this, endless possibilities.  I feel the second generation logitech will really hit the nail on the head with this keyboard.

At this time, @ 180$USD I would only recommend it to those that can take full advantage of the Arc control software.  It truly is a great keyboard, though.  Very well built, I feel I couldn't bend it without full pressure.

It's my first Mechanical Keyboard, I never wanted to make the switch from squishy keys, but this has made it rather easy on me.

It really is great, isn't it?

I've had mine since Dec. 3rd and my "T" key has a tear.  I talked to customer support and they'll replace it, as logitech is excellent with warranties, but I do not want a keyboard I have to send in for replacement warranty for key tearing every few months.

If logitech will extend my 30 day return policy to see if the new one tears in that time, I'll keep it.  If not, it's going back and I'll wait for generation 2.

I called them, and spoke with a supervisor.  He extended my warranty to the Jan 31st (30 day full refund warranty).  This allows me to return the keyboard and test a brand new one.. if the problem happens again I know not to keep the keyboard.  Logitech customer support has to be some of the best out there.

They're also sending me a new g710+ thats 2.5 years old under warranty (3 years) cus 2 keys popped off

I'm going to have to talk to someone else there then, scroll wheel axle(?) snapped off in my G700s

Keys popping of the g710+ is a problem.. it's still the best macro/mechanical keyboard for the money imho... and logitech will just replace it for you over and over and over and over with new ones for 3 years..

They will do the same with all products, as long as you don't void the warranty

im a little unsure.

its a definite overright of my dreams for another G710+ however the keycaps kinda scare me...........

linus said alot about how they feel when typing and gaming...

Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger, forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart.

both actually......

i love and adore the G710+ (hate it when people dont include the +....... x'D drives me nuts)

and i am pretty sure the G910 will over right my love for the G710+, however linus mentioned some issues with the keycaps, and me and him type very similarly so im afraid about it....
