Which shall I buy?

Seabright22
Go to solution Solved by Ryukrieger,

Shadow of Morder is a great action/stealth game, the best of Assassin's Creed movements plus Batman Arkham's combat. It's fun, though it doesn't usurp either of the series in their respective style.

Civ Beyond Earth is still a great Strategy game, however! It's more of the same Civ 5, although I do like the game, unless you like the series, it might be a bit disappointing over a cheaper "complete edition" of Civ 5.

And.... how are you getting a laptop upgrade with £30, I'm... er... a bit curious.

I have about £30, so I'm in a dilemma, shall I get Civ Beyond Earth, Shadow of Mordor. Or, shall I save up for a bit longer and replace my laptop (Dell Inspron n5050) with a PCSpecialist Cosmos II? Or is there another game I should get?

£30 to a new laptop is a big jump lol.

Shadow of Mordor is an INSANELY great game, but so does Civ, hahaha

If you like the strategy game batter, go with Civ. Otherwise, Shadow of Mordor FTW! No regrets buying either.

Ps: What laptop upgrade you're getting with £30? I want to know, hahaha (just kidding, bro)

I'm not a fan of the new CiV to be honest. But it's more a problem of mine. I'm just not that much into the scifi genre. The game itself is what you can expect from the CiV franchise. But it does not offer that much more than the other games. Except for the setting of course. Here's the WTF is of Totalbiscuit :

I really like Shadow of Mordor. It's a great game and one of the very few Triple-A titles I can't complain about these days. I have 23hrs of playtime and a lot ahead of me. I'm playing this type of games quite thorough and mostly in stealth. Here's the WTF is of TotalBiscuit :

You can't really go wrong here.

I've heard a couple of people complain about the new Civ  but if you like strategy then have you considered the Endless Legend?

¸I love endless legend i think its waaaaaay better than Beyond Earth :)

You could always wait a few weeks for the holiday sale on Steam. That would also give you more time to figure out which of the 2 you like better or if you would rather just save up.

EDIT: Didn't look at the date of the OP, I imagine this has been resolved by now.

In my opinion its kind of a strange pair of games to have to debate between, being so overwhelmingly different.

I will add, though, that I always find strategy-type games to be an exceptionally good value as I always end up finding hundreds of hours of replayability in them over the course of a few years. Not to say Shadows of Mordor is a poor value, but its the sort of game I'd play through once, then maybe play through once more in an year or so. So I guess if you're sure you're interested in 4X strategy and you can only buy one, I'd say to lean toward Civ: BE.
