970 SC vs 970 FTW

smallie

Is there much of a difference between these two cards? I'm not sure wether or not to get the FTW edition, as I can afford it but don't want to waste my money if there's no real benefit.

you can easily manually overclock and SC card to outperform the FTW model, anyways out of topic but i would recommend either the Asus Strix or the Gigabyte G1 Gaming rather than the EVGA, but if you really want that gold star customer service, than go for EVGA, just make sure it has the ACX 2.0 cooler rather than the 1.0

The FTW cards are usually binned higher so you might achieve a better overclock on them. However, they're usually not worth it for anything but the top tier. The performance gain that you might get due to a higher overclock is definitely not worth the extra cost on a 970.

FTW because it will be usually binned better so you can get higher overclocks on them

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861
