Air Pilots of BF4 I summon you!

OnekillWalter

Good morning Soldiers!

I have a huge respect for the bf4 pilots of this world.

My question is what controller do you use to drive this good? maybe i suck real bad, but i can't do anything with mouse/keyboard, i always crash.

do you use a joystick? what brand/model?

i tried with my xbox controller in bf3, it was better but...meh.

Anyway, thank you for services Soldiers!

may your framerates be high and your temperatures be low. #pcmr

PS4 controller but I do just fine with keyboard and mouse. Practice makes perfect mate.

Find a quiet lobby where you're not getting violated by pro players and get to work.

Go into test range and practice... a lot. I do alright even with just a keyboard and mouse. It takes some time to nail the basics but once you do it becomes 2nd nature

Nope, learned it the hard way through trail and error since BF3 and I like improving against other players.

I've always used Keyboard and Mouse to fly in BF, it always feels like the reaction times on the controllers/joysticks are too slow.

Been flying jets since the BF3 days, and continue to do so in BF4. Love them  :D

I made a "Tutorial" video on how to control your speed on the PC version of BF4

When you go into test range, give yourself objectives and keep repeating them. For example, get to the choppa, take off from point A, land on point B in 45 seconds and keep repeating. Same thing for flying low or close to objects.

I use mouse and keyboard. Play around with mouse sensitivity if you're having trouble staying in control.

It really helps to bind "Pitch Up" to a keyboard key, as trying to do that with the mouse will dramatically hinder your turning ability.

I use near enough default keys for flying all vehicles, and I'd say i'm a better than most flyer, only key i have different is middle mouse to change between weapons, Just practice I guess

I only use mouse and keyboard because I don't have a controller. However I used to play bf3 on PS3 and found it easy. But after some practice I became good at it and now I hardly die in dog fights. I do think I am a better helicopter pilot though. But to answer the question... I use mouse and keyboard.

tip: use the Right mouse button to look side to side without changing the direction of the heli/jet to get a better view of whats going on around you.

I have used a standard X360 controller for around 5-600 hours jet/chopper flight-time across BF3 and BF4, and it seems to offer quite an advantage (as far as I can tell at least).

You need to find the right key-binding layout for you though, i'll post mine for you to try as an example;

JETS; (I can post my chopper layout also, if you want)

Left stick - Roll/Pitch

Right stick - Yaw

Left Trigger - Brake

Right Trigger - Throttle

Left Shoulder - Countermeasure

Right Shoulder - Fire

A - Afterburner

B - Spot

X - Reload

Y - Switch Weapon

Back/Select - Scoreboard

D-Pad Up - Enter/Exit Vehicle

D-Pad Left - Full Map

D-Pad Right - Zoom Mini-map

D-Pad Down - Change camera angle

It'll still take practice like everything else, but in the end it's a much more natural-feeling way to fly than mouse+keyboard.

I use keyboard only to fly the chopper and the jet,

(azerty)

 z

qsd and arrow keys

The flying goes great the only problem is my crappy keyboard can't register more then 4 keys at the same time (microsoft kb).

If  you want to be good in a jet you need to spend a lot of time in it.

Good luck !

Just practice a lot man. I use standard mouse and keyboard with "pitch up" binded to space. I also have my sensitivity (DPI) binded to my mouse wheel and I keep it at maximum when flying  for better responsiveness. Also learn to shoot while in 3rd person in jets, it's much easier. And practice on CTE servers since they made some substantial changes to flying which will give you an advantage if you learn before they roll out to the rest, and also Good luck! :)
