Nvidia Driver with Down sampling ?

siberiansteel11

So I recently Tried the 1440p resolution using my 1080p monitor. and to be honest I could hardly see a difference in games. And I was sacrificing at least 9 to 10 frames per second. What are you're thoughts on this? Is the experience in down sampling the same as getting a real 1440p monitor? Sorry for this question I'm not good with the 1080p 1440p 4k thing.

Definitely not the same as getting a 1440P monitor. By the looks of it, it just seems like it's some hardcore AA, but better than AA, but not as good as having those real pixels.

No, all it does is basically apply Anti Aliasing, it wont improve how the game looks

It wont really look any better since the game is still being displayed to you at 1080p

It's not the same as having a 1440p monitor, all it will do is eliminate aliasing in games that have poor AA. Like dark souls they use in their dsr demo was carefully chosen because dsr does a great job of making that game look better.

its mostly meant for old games that don't have anti-aliasing, or don't need a lot of juice to begin with. OGSSAA but renamed to sound hip and trendy.

No matter what resolution the game is being rendered at you're still seeing it on the same 1920x1080 hardware pixels that you would any other time, so no, its not the same as having an actual 1440p monitor. The result is basically limited to a form of extreme anti-aliasing.

That said, I find the results pretty awesome. Its perfect for older, Unreal Engine 3 games that my GTX 770 can easily push into hundreds of FPS otherwise. 1440p might be a bit too low to see a massive difference, but as long as you're expecting/looking for anti-aliasing, the difference is there. DSR is easily more interesting to me than PhysX has ever been, anyway.

You wont get much of an change from 1440p. Try 4k and the difference is pretty noticeable.
