Asus PB287Q or PB278Q as second monitor w/ROG Swift?

FatEskimo97

I'm going to be getting the ROG Swift as my main gaming monitor because of the 144hz (I play CS:GO competitively so I need it) and need help choosing my second monitor. Either the 4K PB287Q or the 1440p IPS PB278Q. They're close enough in price that money doesn't matter.

Usually I'd be like "fuck yea 4K over 2K no brainer" and I'm guessing that's what you guys are thinking too, but wouldn't I start to hate the 1440p ROG Swift after a bit with the PB287Q because of how much better the resolution is?

If I get the 287Q, I plan to game on the ROG for games like CS:GO where the 144hz is needed, but for games like DayZ (mod) I'll go with the 287Q. If I go with the 278Q I won't be gaming on it at all and it will be used as just an extra monitor for everything.

Oh, and if it matters at all, I'm going to be getting 2 GTX 970 in SLI as my GPUs.

I think the difference in resolution of a 4K (2160p) monitor and the ASUS ROG Swift's 1440p resolution might bother you. So I think if you're going to get the ASUS ROG Swift, pairing it with the ASUS PB278Q would be a smart choice IMHO. But it's still up to you mate.

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

I have the pb287q 4k monitor but I don't recommend it for your set up. The difference in scaling is gonna kill you more than the difference in detail and pixel density. Everything will either look too small or too big on the 4k depending on the scaling you choose. I tried using a 1080p display as an auxiliary display together with this one but after a while, the size difference of menus and on screen windows was driving me crazy. Get the pb278q with the same 1440p res and same scaling, so looking from one monitor to the other won't look so off.
