Ok so here it all is. Ive never built a pc before but now I do primarily for gaming and a small bit of highscool homework.

Requirements for the build are as follows;

  • must be able to run 3 monitors for nvidia surround using displayport
  • build must have allowance for watercooling of vga/vgas and cpu
  • I already have monitors picked out, 3 of these bad boys: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vg248qe
  • Build must be no more than 3200 us dollars

Thank you anyone and everyone for the help in advance and I just cant wait to build this rig :)

Peripherals? O/S? Are the monitors included in the given budget?

You want a build excluding kbd & mouse but with 3x1080 144Hz monitors (3 @ $265 = $795) and a custom water cooling loop for under $3,200?

How much of an allowance should be made for the cooling loop?

Is gaming going to be done across all 3 monitors?

Looks good but the water cooling is going to be custom that is why im alotting 500 for it

I doubt you will get reasonable performance given the budget.

$3,200 - $90 (o/s) - $795 (monitors) - $500 (cooling) - $1,100 (2xGTX 980) = $715 for cpu, motherboard, memory, storage, psu, and case.

In my opinion there is little point of going with three 144Hz monitors and two GTX 970. In many games the gpu will not be able to provide the monitors with enough fps to take advantage of the monitors higher refresh rate. In other words, when using SLI GTX 970, 60Hz monitors will offer a visual experience very similar to 144Hz ones in many games.

so either go with 3 60hz or 1-2 144hz monitors
