Which Should I Buy an iPhone 6 Plus or OnePlus One?

MuffinTopMike

So I am having a really hard time choosing a new phone. I currently have an iPhone 5 and the main reason I like it is because of iOS, it is so simple and quick to navigate. I originally was going to get the iPhone 6 Plus, but then I was looking at the OnePlus One and I love the design, the power and the price of that phone. The only problem is I have never been a fan of Android, I had an Android phone a couple of years ago and I found the OS overly complicated and just not very user friendly, and that was the main reason why I switched to Apple in the first place. So what should I do, play it safe and buy another iPhone or take a risk and go with Android on the OnePlus One?

If you are not a fan of Android, the answer is clear.

I have an HTC One M8, I came from an iPhone 5, and I wish I would have purchased an iPhone 6 Plus because of the screen size, cameras and OS.

Did you find the change from iOS to Android hard?

No, in fact I was using both OSes side by side (Nexus 7, 4.4.4/5.0)

I like both OSes for certain reasons, but I like that iOS just always works. But like I said, if you are comfortable with iOS, then the answer is clear.

I've personally never run into problems with my OnePlus One so I'd recommend it to you however I haven't tried using a iPhone before so I cant say much when comparing the two. What exactly do you need out of your phone? Just go with what checks most of the boxes on your list.

OnePlus One, simply because you can buy two of them for the price of an iPhone 6 Plus. The UI only looks complicated and hard to use because you're not using it, but it's very close to vanilla Android on the OPO and is a much smaller learning curve then something like TouchWiz.

I watch a lot of videos on my phone as well as listen to quite a bit of music. But with Android you can download content from websites directly to your phone and more file formats are supported. I had to jailbreak my iPhone to get more customization options, but as with most jailbroken phones it was pretty unstable and apps crashed a lot.

From my experience with the phone... It's really snappy and dam fast. Loads of customization options that just plain work with no conflicts. Picture quality is splendid and I find the overall experience to be splendid, pricing on the phone was a big win for me and definitely win in the price/performance section of my book.

Yeah I agree that Android can look more complicated than it really is. I suppose if I use the OPO for a while, I will eventually get used to it.

The phone being snappy is pretty important, iPhone's have always felt pretty fast despite there pretty low end specs, mainly because of the OS. But no phone can beat the OnePlus One when it comes to price, and that is definitely one reason why it is so appealing.

The huge amount of power of the OnePlus One on top of almost stock Android makes it buttery smooth.

Oh forgot to mention. The battery life of the oneplus is amazing.... 75% charge since morning and out all day on the phone... Its only at 41% left..... Watching videos and using tapatalk. Oh and music at 80% volume while not watching videos. I love this phone xD

I can vouch for this. It's the best thing since sliced bread.

Hahaha I love the food analogies. But it does look like a pretty smooth phone, unlike the Samsung phone I used to own which ran TouchWiz, which was pretty laggy at times.

That was one problem with my iPhone was the battery life, since I use my phone a lot, sometimes I would be out of battery by lunch time! So a nice big battery like the one in the OnePlus One would be pretty nice.

Yeah, it's really smooth. And whatever you do, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TOUCHWIZ. Worst RAM management ever. And if you want a big battery, the rumoured Droid Turbo can help. Massive 3900 mAh battery.

My friend has an S5 and s2g KitKat with TouchWiz on top of it makes it feel slower then my Nexus S with vanilla KitKat.

And it's not like Touchwiz helps improve the styling of KitKat.

Terrible. Half of the blue is still there but the other half turned to white and the combination looks like some sort of tile flooring you'd find in a 60s bathroom or diner. They should have just stuck with all-blue like they did with KitKat, that actually looked okay

Do you want to save $500? Android is almost equal to iOS in stability, plus endless customization. But if iOS is important go for the iphone
