Poor sound quality Windows 8,1

equippedbum

I listen to music on youtube with headphones...the sound quality on realtek audio is awful.

Is there a way to disable on-board sound and then replace it with a program or app?

If you know the name of an app or program...it would be appreciated.

Mine sounds fine, think you need better headphones or learn how to configure realtek audio.

you might have a crappy Realtek implementation, but mine all sound passable. maybe it's your headphones  as he mentioned.

a good pair of $40 IEMs or headphones can go a long way.

Awful compared to what? What's your mobo? What are your headphones? You should try to let us help you fix what might be wrong with your hardware before you go looking for software solutions that are just plain worse.

What motherboard and headphones are you using? I'm going to guess it's the headphones and not the realtek (unless it's broken).
