First Build Plans

Nozumu

Hey guys, I've been planning to build a system for quite a while now and I finally decided to get started on the build. I live in the Philippines and the prices are about the same in USD so I'll be using Prices as basis. There is currently no budget but I will be putting $90 a month which I started last August, now a friend of mine suggested that I buy a part every month until I finish my build. That will help me keep myself from spending the money in something else, which I tend to do a lot. Are there disadvantages in doing just that?

Alright, now for the build itself I'll be moving from a ~5 year old laptop so I cannot salvage any part, I'll be using it mostly for gaming, I mostly play games that are not very gpu intensive like Hearthstone and DotA 2, but I'd like to have the capability to play newer games atleast smoothly at medium, I would also be using it for image retouching, studying 3d modelling and game development. Finally I'm planning to start with 1 monitor then upgrade to dual monitors after.

Here's my current build plan:

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  ($148.97 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($119.00 @ Amazon)
Memory: Kingston Fury Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($85.02 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Vapor-X Video Card  ($209.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $809.94
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

And some questions with the build:
  • Will 4GB gpu ram have noticable difference in dual screens than 2GB?
  • Are those two extra cores in the 8320 going to boost performance significantly in rendering? (was planning to get the 6300 at the start)
  • Are the blue parts going to look good on the midi's smoked side panel?

Never buy parts one at a time. It might be dead on arrival and you'll have no way of knowing and by the time you can use it the warranty period will be over. Have some self control and save up the entire amount first and then buy the entire system all at once. Prices change over time too and new stuff will come out. Just have some self control and you will truly enjoy your purchases once you have the money to get the system.

^ this

or buy parts that won't be DOA, such as the case, case fans, hard drive, optical drive and later you buy cpu, mobo, gpu and psu

Thanks, I totally forgot about the warranties. I don't care that much about the new stuff since it will take ages before it reach my country and the price will probably be through the roof. Something mid-range is enough for me.

I might do this, sans optical drives.

I know how you feel.

This subforum moves too fast, lol.

After some advice and thought, I made some changes on the build, and decided to go with a Blue/Black theme. Will these parts look good together? I also took out the Aquila so that I can put more money on the cpu and gpu so I need a new case, preferably a mini-tower because of space constraints. And I plan on changing all the fans with the Corsair fans with changable rings as my first upgrade.
